Have been following this forum since 2008 but only actually got my own hilux last year in November. Might I say It was everything I hoped it would be and more!
This is the add picture of the lux when i was buying it. It came with ARB bullbar and side rails, safari snorkle, lightforce XGTs, a nice steel tray and 16 inch rims with Dunlop 245/65/16Grandtrek tyres and 60'000 kms on the clock.
This is the day I picked it up in Noosa
Upon driving away from the sale I was pretty shocked to find that there was no air conditioning!! Apparently they do not come fitted with it from factory. I then traveled into Brisbane and picked up some bashplates and a vmn power chip from Rod! Then drove back to mackay, fuel consumption was great! I had upgraded from a 95 diesel landcruiser ute and was not used to this or the power!
Since November last year I have steadily been adding things to the car, first was the chip. Made It a completely different car. Next came air-conditioning and cruise control. The cruise control is my favorite mod as i travel out to the mines and do on average 1000kms a week. I then waited till a couple of months ago and had a cal offroad 3 inch lift fitted. This was followed by a set of 265/75/16 Mickey thompson MTZ's. I did have my heart set on 33's but decided that they can be the next set of tyres I get. And now there is a Thaipan 3 inch exhaust and a new clutch sitting in my shed ready to go in once my mate has time. We did try the exhaust this afternoon but the dump pipe nuts have proved impossible!!! So pulling the turbo off and trying that way. Also it is booked into autobahn for a sound system on Thursday. That mite be it for the this wave of mods but i dont think it will ever be finished as everyone already knows!
These are some pics I have taken Along the way.

Top ute dude. I got a shock too, when I bought mine and the dealer told me I would have to wait for 2 days for the A/C to be fitted. Keep up the good work
Mate im told they are awesome just having to find some time to get it put it. Fly wheel will need machining so its a mad rush on jack stands and ramps weekend job comin up soon. Cant wait but, am going to need it with the exhaust.
Cheers for the feedback guys, my apprentice at work got a brand new 2008 single cab for his first car and I dreamed about one ever since. The extra cab is my dream car!
its amazing the MTZ's dont howl anymore! I do have a suspicion that it has to do with the latest mod!!! Have gotten installed a clarion dvd head deck, alpine amp and sub and a set of rockford fosgate splits and boy o boy have I missed having a good sound system. Made me not want to stop driving on the way out to Moranbah this arve. Coming up soon is the clutch install along with getting the flywheel machined and hopefully soon my thaipan xp exhaust then turning the vmn chip up a setting or 2 for the winter. At the moment Im so happy with the truck and once these next couple of things are done id almost like to think that this stage of mods is over..... but i dont know. winch, soft rear locker, front air locker, dual batt i cannot really decide on whats going to happen next...
Well bit of an update, my 4 terrain clutch has been installed so has my thaipan exhaust (had to oxy off the nut on the turbo stud to get the dump off then new one back on!) and also fitted up a gme uhf. Am a very happy man, been able to put that power to the tyres is great. I find thru sandy country I can power out of things instead of having to stop and go to 4wd. Im pretty happy enjoying the truck atm and am not sure what else is on the list, winch lockers etc but my wallet is really enjoying the break. While out at moranbah last week me and a mate in his rv found a few trails and had a bit of a play. So here are a few happy snaps cheers
Could you please show us where you fitted the sub in? Im getting an X cab soon and im not sure how il go about fitting a sub in. Weather its custom glass box or a package deal.
Im Always On The Edge, It Only The Sharpness That Varys.
Ha mate the sub is just in a box I seat belt in. I wanted to be able to remove it for a bush trip or watever reason I one day mite need the room. I'm just happy it's there it has really improved the feel of the music. I like it so loud that my ears hurt and it almost gets there. Cheers Mick, it's not as hardcore as some trucks on here but it still puts a smile on my face when I walk into the carpark see it!
Matt, the man im trying to forget haha! Kidding for the reason that I know il be contacting you about some awesome rekon gear one day. But thankyou and the exhaust gives me all that torque I was missing
