Haha max I just learnt a big lesson that's for sure. I recovered a Nissan three times that day which made it not so bad. But the fact that the bloody thing didn't die till I got to moranbah so I had to arange for a mate to come out with a car trailer and yeh let's say I could nearly have a winch or locker instead of a broken car!

So the final damage report is, starter motor gone alternator gone, front and rear brakes need doing and the worst thing I cracked the transfer case :O. I'm not sure what to do about the transfer case so suggestions would be good. I'm looking at either welding it up or a replacement housing. Bit worst case is a reconditioned complete one.... f$@#&% thing is costing me bigtime and it's killing me cos I could have front and rear lockers for this :@.

Cheers to 4x4ing lol

Max,
It must be an extra cab thing --- I put my Hilux in a bit of mud and cost me a Transfer Case too, I filled mine with mud and got one from wreck with 19,000km on clock for less than $1000 - they seemed to be fairly common and not too expensive. I have a reasonably noisey Transfer case with good housing if you want to make an offer, would be better than trying to weld your case - send me a PM if you interested.
I'd suggest you fit full set of breathers, 1 in top of gearbox and 3 in transfer case when you have the car appart.
I also have CalOffroad lift kit and think its best $$ I've spent on my Hilux as it performs soo well.

Simon,
There are 3 breathers on transfer case and one on gearbox, see links below.

Bit of an update the brakes alternator starter and battery are all fixed and some good news the transfer is actually not cracked it is only the seal between the transfer and gearbox so that's a relief. Going to put a day of tlc into the truck soon with some power steering fluid and a few other things. Hope I don't have to fix it for a wile!

Might pay to checkout the ATX turbo website. If your up for a new turbo, they do an upgrade with new internals.... might be similar cost, with a significant boost increase 8-)
