Got an opportunity to park next to a new Tundra today. What an awesome vehicle, and damn they are big.

You'd struggle parking properly within a standard car park space. Rear seat room is massive and reclining rear seats aswell with full leather interior.

The top of the Tundra tub was the same height as mine, and the bonnet was just on an inch lower ontop than my hilux.

Thought Id share the comparison.

Very nice Max. That would be the ultimate rig if you were touring around OZ on the blacktop. Throw a custom tray on the back for toys and a Kedron 19' behind it. Mmmmm

131 pages in one day :o .?? Granted, some of it is static (no offense to Max or others  ) but still…impressive mate. On to the "Blocking the EGR" pages for some more light reading I say.

The diesels been good to me thus far but I really miss the punchiness of a Petrol.

Would love to drop a 3UZ (LC100 V8) into it. Why? Because thats one of the few legal options that shouldnt cost the world to install.

Hey max, can you give a rough estimate of how high your custom brackets raise the towbar?

I have a trundle tray and not sure on clearance, I'll measure the distance between the bottom of the trundle and the top of my towbar shortly.

The current custom brackets I have (not currently fitted - suited to tray) make the factory towbar crossmember sit "just" above the chassis rail.

i.e. towbar is level with back of chassis rail and sit above it.

easy to measure that against your own vehicle.

Custom factory towbar side brackets. Made out of 10mm steel plate. These will sit the towbar "just" over the top of the chassis rails and in line with the rear of chassis rail. More so for use as towbar as recovery point on a tray back. Could tow light trailers but i wouldnt tow anything heavy. $50 the pair plus freight.

You can see how they fit below:

On that note: I am getting some new custom towbar brackets madeup and laser cut currently that will raise the factory towbar to suit the quarter chop + 1" bodylift so it will sit nice and tight just under the tailgate.

Also has a nice stylish curve to it and will incoporate the front most chassis mount too so its as strong as possible.

Pics to come when they are in.

ahh, looking at them now i thought the towbar was inline with the chassis rails, but its clearly above. (was hard to tell on my phone)

Thanks for the clarification.

Haha, can't weld to save my life, so i doubt that'd happen.

Have a few mates that might be able to knock me up a couple.

Cheers though.
