I am just as exited. Pitty laser cutting is so slow. I don't see any problem shipping to Aus - local price should be more or less ZAR 6000 - could arrange discount for a group buy.

Hey guys!

Just to add a comment to this thread, the bumper in the pics is made here in Venezuela by a local manufacturer called "Accesorios Viper 4WD"

This evening I went to a local dealer to check prices for that bar, I'm planning to buy just the same model as shown in the photos. But I'd trade a Sahara ARB or Sahara Ironman for the Viper bar ;) (if someone is interested just let me know)

Importing ARB, TJM, Ironman is expensive for us, so that's the reason why the local fabricators design a lot of different options for 4x4 enthusiasts in Venezuela.

The web site of Viper is: http://www.accviper.com/viper2010/index_.html enjoy ;)

The "trade" comment is for real hehe....

Sorry to pull you up here Bondy, but you can't compare the two. But then I'm not sure if your comparing Buds bar to Uys's or Vipers :?:
Haven't seen the Uys's bar finished yet, so I can't comment on the fabrication fit and finish.

While I don't mind this Viper tube style bar, or "rally" bar as they call it, it's not really what Bud is aiming for. This bar he is currently working on is a "plate" style bar, not a tube bar. We will do a tube bar, but not until the new year.

With no disrespect to Viper, I quite like a lot of their products and may well look to stock some of them at some stage, but the quality of the fabrication that Buds Customs put out far exceeds that seen in the Viper bars.

Take this front bumper style bar for example, the fit around the headlights, not very tight fitting:

Bud has held back the release of his front bar to get it 100% right.
He wasn't happy with the tightness of the fit around the grill and headlights, so it went back to design, laser cutters etc etc.

Hopefully within a week or so the new prototype will be tacked together and ready for production.

In fairness to Viper, I do like a bunch of their stuff, funnily enough the design of their rear bar is quite similar to some designs Bud currently has for the rear bar we will start after this run of sliders and the front bar is done.

Also the FJ rear bar is quite nice as well...

Anyway Uys, sorry to hijack your thread.
Your design work on CAD is impressive and I hope this bar turns out as you plan.

If you boys are keen on Uys's bar or Vipers, organise yourselves a group buy... see what fun they are

Cheers

Nice job with the center portion of the bar Uys!

just a comment, does it have enough space to fit a winch in? or is not planned to have it?

ah! and as far as I know and just to try to contribute, side portions of Viper bars are bolted on the center, the other local brands weld them.

here's another Viper bar just to see if the space between front plate and the grille is bigger

I believe i will get it in..... I ordered the winch plate this morning.

Do you perhaps know where they buy the plastic inserts below the lights from?
