Yes, thats on the 1/8th mile lol

Traction was a lot better this year, but still not perfect. Even dropped pressures right down and still got wheelspin off the line....

I got some video footage, I'll try get it on here later.

Registered for another event later in the year, so I'll be looking forward to that,

What tyre pressures are you running jap?

Also give it more on the burnout, you want solid smoke for about 3-4 sec and spinning them over 100kph (first gear burnout wont spin them hard enough, need to get into second), the difference to getting good heat into the MT's to not getting heat into them is quiet a big difference. You shouldnt be spinning them with the power you have. Same with tyre pressures, when you get the right pressure they really come on but dont go too low, around the 16psi mark should be about right.

Yeah thanks

Shouldn't be spinning them with my power? How do you know what the surface was like? lol
I was running between 15 & 16psi, made near zero difference to when I was running 20psi
Tried big smoke, tried little smoke.
Still no hook.

The power you have, what you think 230rwkw is big power  I know guys running 10's with 235 MT streets, have 350+rwkw doing 1.5 60's, dont flatter you self buddy and there's guys in the states runnings 8's with the same 295 MT's that you have with about 4x the power you have, by the way your 13.8 has already exceded your mph so dont expect to get any better ET and you want to run a 12  I could tell you how to guage the track conditions but you probery already got that sorted hey.
Look Jap if you want to be a smart ass, I'll say nothing in future as Im only trying to help but you just always reply with attitude, you seem to know everything but unfortantly is not the case.
Good luck with it you going to need it.

Nothing wrong with having ambition lol as you're trying to educate me

Didn't think my reply above was actually that sarcastic or whatever you want to regard it as, but obviously you've taken offence to it.
If thats the case then don't read it.
And you are actually in my showroom thread too, so if you're not liking the taste of the subject matter, then I'm sure you can figure out what to do.

And I very much doubt that the guys with all the power you were spruiking about would be running 1.5 60's on an AIRSTRIP.

Good day to you.

Been a while

Been busy with a lot of stuff....managed to change intakes and build a new cold air box

Image

Looking forward to getting back to the strip and on the dyno, feels like it's picked up some power through the mid range just by going to a different intake pipe.

That enough to roll the white Lux in Mackay  ......... White lux owner reaches over for smaller pulley

Jokes aside that intake should work well, have you seen a boost pressure increase?

Jap,

instead of only insulating the air intake inside the engine bay, have you considered running it ontop of the engine and fitting a bonnet scoop to "ram" that fresh air into the intake?

Kind of like the Big wide mouth scoops some HSV's have, they are very wide yet have a low profile so "may" work above the engine with a scoop ontop....like a new 79 series bonnet scoop....wide and low in profile and wont make the hilux bonnet look funny....gotta help horsepower!

To answer your questions:
Maybe ;)
Do it 8-)
And no, I don't think the K&N was a restriction otherwise there would have certainly been an increase in airflow.
The truck certainly feels better on the road

Yes, the idea of an intake under a diesel bonnet scoop was thrown about, but never ended up getting there.
I think if I WAS going to put a scoop on, it would be a factory one, to keep it in the 'sleeperish' state

With it being where it is, wonder if removing the headlight for a run would create a ram air effect?

One would assume so, yes.
I did this at an 1/8th mile drag meet this year when I had the last airbox in, times were better and so was mph, but I have no 'back to back' testing of it as its too much mucking around to put it back in.
But yeah, with the headlight out, thats a massive frontal area, so anything over 40-50km/h would surely create a positive pressure in there, depending on engine rpm of course lol
