John's Lux Build

Postby cr1pp5 on Thu, 09 Jul 2009 4:04 +0000

Well for a bit of a laugh, thought I'd post my "build" up here. For those that don't know, I have a 4x2 lux.
Its an 07 model, 2.7 vvti workmate tray back. Got it from the dealer with nudge bar, spotties, heavy duty tray, work light and the freebies (bonnet and headlight protectors and rubber floor mats). I changed the exhaust on it, to a no muffler system, ask Skog and the boys who went to Nyah how loud it was (had to take it off....too noisy apparently, damn EPA)

Here's what she looked like:

Image

First thing to go on was the toolbox, then closely followed by the side steps, which originally were off a dual cab, but with the help of one of my mates, we cut them down to size. I also put a UHF in with aux speaker, 2 aerials and a aerial switch.

Image

I always hated the grey bumper, so I managed to get a colour coded one for a slab from a Toyota dealer. Along with this bumper came the 11 clearance lights

Image

I have made a few things to help with the tray set up, here is the jerry can holder and the moto wheel guides

Image

I also made a little aluminum "bash plate" for it

Image

Next along was the LED tail lights which I had to make new holders for, made replica's of the originals, and the 55w reverse light

Image

Also have done a few other small things, like added air horns, brake controller, another 12v socket, new UHF with remote mic, etc etc and the most recent thing was adding another 19 clearance lights, pic below

Looking good there John.
How many clearance lights? Did I read 11 clearance lights + another 19 = 30 in total
How many alternators are you running mate.. Is the enough charge in the battery to fire the sparkplugs.
With that many lights and no muffler Id imagine youd attract the fuzz..... :)
Love the shovel as well 8-) Just dont lower it....
Have you fitted my old LSD yet......
Cheers

John,

Are you a West Ham fan?

Well, if you are, then I've got a football/soccer fan here too.

Me a lifetime loyal gooner, Arsenal.

At least you don't support my pet hate clubs, Chelsea & Man Utd.
Cheers

well while we are all in the mood for some modded 4x2's....here is my brother's car, its a 1991 Ford Courier (Mazda B2200) he has done a fair bit of work to it, it used to have a 450KG tailgate loader on it, front end was damaged etc etc. The old girl has only done 132,000kms. He also added Hella spotties with 130w globes, GME uhf, toolbox and moto wheel guides, klaxon air horn (barrrooogah) and also done his sound system. Here she is:

Now he has a thought brewing in that little head of his, when I told him the trol's 31's are coming off in place of 35's, he asked what was happening to the 31's....well this is what's happening:

****WARNING**** You thought my ute was a crazy bogan truck

The front guards will have to be cleared a little bit to allow for turning, but apart from that they are all good

G'day John,

Love what you've done to the ute mate - certainly added a bit of style to it!

Look forward to seeing it in person at Deni!
