Hey Pete,

With your mako winch, when you changed the cable to rope did you have to get a normal hawse or is it a offset hawse? I can't zoom in enough to see on your pics  Also how hard was it to fit Into the Arb bar? Did you fit it yourself?

Cheers :D

Troy yes I run a offset hawse (one of the black plastic ones) Check out the last 4WD Action Mag 168 on page 206 Dynamica Rope add . . . as for fitting the winch, Crossport and myself did the job in a couple of hrs not to hard at all. . .

I will get a photo for you tomorrow.

Cheers Pete :D what's the advantage of plastic over the alloy? Is it so it wears the hawse not the rope?

Here you go Troy

Image

You can see here there are 2 sets of holes for the bolts so when mounted it off sets the main hole for the winch rope.

once the plastic wears down on one side you just flip the hawse over and start again with no damage to the rope.

and heres a sneak peak that some will like I love this mod. . . . . ;)

I have Steve, it's sitting in the shed, I got hold of a 40m grey rope at the right price so that went on. ;)

Started playing around with the trailer again, I found a brand new Hilux Xcab tarp on ebay with all the bits so on it went

Now just need to take it around to the canvas man to cut the holes in the tarp for the RTT bars, then off the a mates to do some alloy plate work on the front A frame and mount the tool box. . . . 8-)

Still thinking on how the mount the spare wheel :!: :!: :!:

why cant you mount the spare underneath? yeah, on the actual hilux the spare wheel winch mounts onto the cross member....it would be easy to bolt in another crossmember underneath to mount another spare wheel winch onto.....you could mount the spare directly above the axle if theres enough room for more clearance.

just an idea.
