It's the price I'm worried about .... With manual you don't need to do anything to it and your sweet for descents.

Wow. I'm friggen shocked from seeing those photos mate, it makes me sick to think there are people that do that kinda sh!t. I guess at the end if the day a car is still just a possession, it could be worse. What delinquents though.

Glad to see you've got big plans!

Thanks for all the support guys!
No point on dwelling on the past it won't help me. Every time i do I just get stirred up about all the hours and coin that I have put into the car that I'll never get back.
Has been a learning experience and will do many things different this time.
Including a security alarm and not parking in dark streets in Logan!

Looking for a dual cab by the way . Silver, gold, gunmetal grey or white.
Under 35k with under 120,000km on the clock. Sr or sr5 doesn't matter, want rubber flooring though not carpet.

If anyone has any info on SASing a 2wd and getting it engineered please let me know.
Because it will be heaps cheaper to convert a 2wd ..

looking for another dual cab, and would prefer d4d the 2.7 petrols aren't that great on the highway.. The bench seat front isn't too luxurious either.. Thanks again for your help mate!

I'm in the same boat as u I muuuuch prefer driving a manual but there's no arguing that an auto is more controllable off road!

The only drama I can see in SASing a 2wd is the rego.
After the SAS the only thing different between 2wd and 4wd is the transfer, engineering will be sweet, but I think you'll have to get some sort of mod plate stating the change from 2w to 4w

Deffently go the auto, mine is terrible on descents! Auto will be hands down better

If I was to do it again, it would be on a 2wd extra cab, SAS cruiser centres, 4-link using a cruiser or Prado diff, and a lefty

Good luck with the next build

What gear ratio are you running. If you changed it wouldn't it make it easier to do the descents with the 35's on.. Then 1st low wouldn't be so fast..

I can only see auto as running away from you on a descent unless you have a lefty..

What's a lefty worth? Any one got pics?

And who could I speak to apart from Matty and bud about this and the whole engineering/ mod plate thing

Cheers Alex

I just caught up on this thread....

FAARK ME!

My honest condolences.....I cant imagine what you must be feeling.....Ive already told my wife should anything like this ever happen to my lux (touch wood), she better book a padded room for me as Id never be the same again.

On the brighter side (if there is one) you can always learn from your past experiences and make Version Two better from it.

I agree...go the whole hog and get a 2WD to SAS and make sure its an auto...protects your driveline heaps with the slipping design thats built into it. especially with big tyres and gearing...main reason I bought auto and diesel because I didnt want the suddent power/snap/jerk when offroading.

I'd seriously be speaking to Matty and Buddy....especially Buddy and whoever does his engineering.

Given the 2WD doesnt have a transfercase, you wont have to flip the front 80 series differential...just fit a rebuilt and regeared 4.7 transfercase which will save you some coin in the project aswell.

Given what I have learnt in my almost 6 years with my hilux, if I were to do it again, I would go this avenue....

i went riding at the pino today man and came across your lux. looks worse than the pics show. parts a scattered everywhere. had a quick look to see if there was anything else to salvage off it for you but chris must of grabbed everything worth salvaging. by the way those depo headlights you were running must hold up pretty well under heat they wernt distorted at all, just scratched to buggery.

id definitely go to auto on 2.0. ive got a manual petty and its alot of work controlling the power delivery up hills especially if you've had to stop and start in a tricky section.

How long does the insurance take to come through?
Police have already been out to assess the arson of the vehicle and will "investigate" any ideas how long this will take an then how long for the

I think each claim can vary, mine took around 3-4 weeks to come through.

Sorry to hear this mate, it would cut me up if someone low life stole my rig.

As for your claim, have you lodged it yet, if so like Mitch said about 4 weeks you should have the cash.

To speed things up send them a copy of the rego papers and current payout figure on any finance on the vehicle.
