Well i got the chassis back so now im getting the body in position, issue is the patrol gearbox is massive!!!!! in the little hilux tunnel.
so im cutting the tunnel a bit with some tapping here and there, i could raise the body higher but i dont want the front chassis rails too low in relation to the body will post pics this weekend on the progress

When ya cut the tunnel can ya get some pics please?

Im keen to see how thick and where the various section are.

I know where I drilled the 3" hole for my crawl box there was like 3 seperate layers of steel I had to drill through but have been told on the sides of the tunnel should be less.

Would like to see someone else cut theirs before I do to clock my transfer.(one day  )

did ya get me email?

I have thought about that, not sure if the DOT would like it even though they wouldn't even know they were looking at

ok got a little closer to mounting the body, i have finally worked out the gearbox height etc.
The issue with the Hilux body is that the firewall is so close to the front axle as my bellhousing has a issue with the front pumpkin
so the photo below is at "full compression" according to the front chassis rails in relation to body height it is equilivant to hilux with a 3" body lift

so i could get more clearance by raising the body more but i dont the front chassis rails to be too low in relation to the body, i also dont want the car to be too high as well.

so i am going to extend the front bump stops by 30-35mm for more clearance around the bellhousing, while this is sitting on its bump stops the 80 series bumpstops are progressive so im hoping the extra 35mm will prevent the bellhousing from hitting the pumkin if i ever happen to jump it

Ride height will be roughly 5" higher than this

Hey Mate,

Progress is good on this build... looking very good at the moment.

This photo made me laugh... Where have I seen that very particular shade of green before?

Previous build thread from the 6th Gen hilux/80 Series hybrid Boof was building some time ago for those interested:

Nice to see Boof's parts getting used... Did you end up with a lot of gear from that part out?

Looking forward to seeing this all come together over the months to come.

Cheers

Great Progress Bartso...so Im assuming with 35mm longer bumpstop, the hilux will be sitting 35mm higher than pic below at full compression right?

yeah mate but also remember these bump stops are progressive so with no jumping it will be 35mm higher, i'm not sure on how much they compress under what load

Nice build. A couple of questions:
1) Approximately how much will have to be cut from the chassis at the front
2) Is the steering column the standard Hilux one?

I'm in the process of doing my application to Queensland Transport for a similar Hilux/Landcruiser at the moment...although so far they haven't been very helpful until they actually get their hands on plans.

Won't have to cut anything off the front of the chassis,
Steering column wise I think it will mainly be hilux haven't even looked at that yet
