Mick's SR5

G'day from the Top End!

Thought it was finally time to start a build thread for the 'Lux.
2008 TD SR5 Dual Cab purchased in July 2009.

Came with:
- Nudge bar (First thing to go!)
- Hard Tonneau and Tub Liner

Since then:
- ARB Deluxe Winch Bar
- A pair of Lightforce 240 XGTs
- Safari Snorkel
- A set of 31x10.5x15 Wrangler Duratracs
- Dual Battery System

Future plans:
- 3" Bilstien lift (Early in the new year)
- Winch
- Canopy and roof rack (Mid 2012)

I'm after a good cross between 4WD capability (The wet season is relentless!) and touring capability. I do a fair bit of hunting out of Darwin and hoping to tackle the Kimberly and Cape York next year.

Been pretty slack on the picture side of things lately. Will get some more up soon!

Looking very clean mate, charcoal is one of my fav colours for the Lux.

Those side steps are way to straight though.....

Buddy's sliders are a worth while investment

Pinstrips, nothing a bit of polish wont fix

Wow, never met anybody else who knew where UDP falls was, we always loved going there for a swim from Katherine when I was a young fella, best swimming spot around I reckon! Lux looks very nice mate, I agree with Helmut on the Charcoal, wish I'd seen it before buying the black!

If you're thinking about suspension mate, I know the Bilsteins will be the cheaper route, but I can vouch for Monster Ride's Rekon struts being well worth the extra coin, and they handled the track from Gove to Katherine no worries at all just a few weeks ago before the road was cut off. Haven't had them in the mud or anything yet, but we're still waiting for the rain over our way.

How much did you pay for the Wranglers? Any thoughts on them yet? Picked up a set of Mickey Thompson MTZs from TJM in Winnelli the other week for $350, so I'm keen to see how similar tyres go up here.

Cheers,
Ash

Ash, Wranglers were around $300 from City Tyre Service. They were going to sell me some MTRs for the same price but I couldn't justify them. And the verdict so far, have handled anything I've thrown at them. Was practically swimming with them out at Harrisons Dam the other week! Got me out of a few tricky situations on both sand and mud.

Out of curiosity, are the Wranglers made in USA or Indonesia?

Could you take a close up of the tyres?
Cheers
