SteveB's build

Postby steveb on Mon, 19 Sep 2011 7:26 +0000

Well I've had this thing a bit over 12 months now so I thought I would get around to doing a bit of a write up.

The Truck - 2008 Hilux D4D D/C SR5 Manual with hard lid.

The mods to date:-

ARB Sahara Bar
Tigerz11 12000 lb winch
Full Rekon front Suspension with diff drop (Currently sitting at 2.5")
All Pro steeroing knuckle gussets
Buds Bashplates & Sliders
15" x 8" Infinity Wheels with 32" x 11.5" Bridgestone M/T Duellers
Front & Rear Air Lockers
Runstop Rear Disc conversion
DBA 4000 front rotors
Safari Snorkel
140 litre Longranger Tank
A-Sure Stereo/GPS
VMN Chip
3" Exhaust
Rear Bar with Wheel/Jerry Carrier
60 litre under tub S/S water tank (with pump to be fitted)
Bushman fridge
Battery Pack with 1100w inverter
Rear tub storage area

Still to be fitted

Additional spare wheel carrier on top of hard lid
Roof Racks

(before the front was lowered again)

Most of the stuff that I have done are fairly standard upgrades but heres a couple of things that I have done recently that are a bit different.

1. Removed the rear seat and made frames for the fridge and power pack. Also made a frame to store snatch strap etc against therear of the cab.

2. I got some plastic tubs from Ikea the other day. They worked out really well size wise. I attached a slotted piece of angle across the tub to hold them down at the front and utilised the rear tie down points to tie the back down. I think it is a good compromise to a drawer system because it will all remove in about 10 minuted and only cost about $90 to fabricate.

3. Custom made rear bar and wheel carrier

4. All Pro steering knuckle gussets

This is it so far.

I had the Runstop conversion done down at Outback accesories in Seaford. The biggest problem with doing it is that you have to remove the wheel bearings from the axles (apparently mine were a bitch) to fit the backing plates. You need access to to the right equipment. It was probably the best $300 I've ever spent getting them to fit them. There is a huge improvement in braking performance as a result (I can actually make the ABS kick in now)

Cheers

Hey mate, how did the tigerz 11 fit in your sahara bar? I just bought one for my new rig but have been told it wont fit. Did you have to do any mods
