I have never worked on a TRD Hilux and I have wanted to find out for a while now if TRD Australia actually followed the same installation protocol as the States and “Re-Flashed” the ECU with Toyota Software.

Can you tell us if your Standard TRD Hilux already had a “piggy back” ECU or not?

They run a different ECU :geek:

The TRD charged V6's in the States generally have to run a 7th injector and/or larger primaries due to their AFR's going north. This may explain why I can run the same boost levels and still achieve safe (re: rich) AFR's with the stock fuel system.

I'll have to look into this and see if there are any real differences.

Trd's also run different injectors compared to the standard V6's...this would have to contribute too.

Thats true, but i'm comparing mine to the TRD kits. They use them in the states and Prodrive (I think) fitted what I thought was the same thing here.
Maybe not. Did I get bigger injectors? Something else? Who knows :|

Cheers mate.
Unfortunately had some fuel issues, so no racing for me.
Will be back on the 20th November (weather permitting) for a street meet

Beats me why so many go for clubbys, typhoons etc out your way, roads are shot and can't get out of town after a decent rain...... I had a Maloo when I lived out there, buckled 2 rims in a year

I couldn't agree more.
Also people that insist on driving with 20" wheels that have a light coat of rubber on them.
They might look good, but jesus, you wouldnt be able to leave the CBD.

On with the show! 8-)

New fuel pump is in, shouldn't have to worry about 'is there enough fuel pressure up top' for a long time.
New plugs and cam sprockets going in as we speak...or is that....type?

Hi jap,

The red rocket looks really sharp. What are those road tyres you're using?

The tyres I did a skid with?

They are M/T Drag Radials

Sorry to waste your time mate, I meant your original road tyres and I now recognise them as the Bridgestone Dueler A/T's. Keep up the great work.

Nah you're right mate.

Given everything, the A/T's hold up pretty well
Got 21,000km on it now, should get another 5-8 thousand out of the rears.
More out of the fronts

Exhaust cam sprockets are in, if I get to plumbing up the catch can today, should be able to start it up tonight. Have a couple more things to put on, hopefully in time for the drags this weekend

Head towards Cloncurry, continue for 900km until you get to Townsville.
