Not an update....havent had any time to do anything extra.....but thought I'd share some inspiration with ya'all.

Below is Larry's tacoma from the USA......we've both been developing our vehicles in a very similar way.

He too is CrawlBox equipped (but with an added Lefty), 3" suspension (non wide track) and 1" bodylift.

He just fitted 37" BFG Blue Label Krawlers, and at ride height it clears everywhere.....getting it to work offroad will be challenge.........

Note: those scratches in the LHF fender will buff out

If stuff breaks he is ready to SAS it.

Probably a year ahead of me in development......37's are something Ill be looking at next year......atleast Q78 swampers for offroad.

Looks like he's had some fun in that,

Also looks close to taking the body off and just running a cage.

Originally I thought it was an All pro bumper but its a relentless fabrication bumper with custom hoops and angry eyes.

The hilux is at 127,000km currently and its reaching an age where things are starting to have to be replaced due to wear.

1) Front wheel bearings.

Never having had a vehicle long enough to know what stuffed wheel bearings sound like, but this week the LHF and now the RHF are starting to make that low huming/rumbling sound on and off. Trying to work out if I should fit gussetted spindles at same time, so I could build new spindles on the bench before replacing onto vehicle.

Not sure how long the wheel bearings will last.....i rekon not a bad run considering shes been on 33's since day one.

2) Rear Pinion seal is starting to leak. Just need to find time and borrow the tools to replace it. Not a leak but a constant wetness on the diff front the seal going back.

3) Muffler has a hole, needs to be rewelded or replaced with a straight through pipe.....yet to do.

Never enough time.

jack vehicle up push and pull top of the wheel if there is movement more the 3mm they need replacing. there is allowed to be a fly fart of movement in there also spin the wheel when it is in the air and put your ear near the hub and listen for grindng noise. also the noises could be from brakes to

So I ended up replacing both front wheel bearings meself....that was interesting.

No store had a hub-puller, no workshop had a press big enough for the size of the hub to fit inbetween the H-Beams to push through.

So after a heapload of cursing (trucks front end was apart so had to do something), and alot of brainstorming, myself and Rob from The Suspension Centre came up with a little solution, that allowed us to press it out and press the new bearings on.

This week will be replacing the "sweating" rear pinion seal, then all fluids in the drivetrain and try and organise a day out wheeling.........thats right, trucks been taken off sale. (atleast for now)

Somethings come up where I will need it in the new year.....

Therefore.....from a mod perspective (theres not really much more I need to do from a capability point of view), I will be doin the following in the near future:

1) Extending the headboard bar and finishing it off so I can carry one, maybe two spare tyres vertically.
2) Clocking the transfercase over xmas time off.
3) Welding in the new crossmember for the crawlbox thats been sitting on my bench.

Then in the new year will be working towards some sort of belly skid late for the newly flat bottomed belly of the lux so Ill be able to slowly crawl and/or slide over obstacles without any worries bout the transfercase.

Last several weeks, mod money has given way to wear and tear service money.

Rear Pinion Seal started to leak so I needed that replaced.

Have heard a humming for a while from one of the bearings, not sure which it was, I replaced both front wheel bearings just to be sure. Hum was still there.

Last Sunday, I found which bearing it was when the LHR wheel bearing shat itself on the freeway - sqealing and clanking every so often....not to mention the diff oil spraying everywhere........

So I replaced that the next day. replacing them brought to my attention that the rear shoes were completely worn......so today I replaced them aswell...... :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Luckily I could do the work myself, would hate to think what all that would have cost externally

DIY is always the best bet if you know what you are doing. its stupid how much some places charge for servicing.

x2

forgot to mention, my exhaust muffler has brocken off the actual 3" pipe itself, the whole weld had cracked off after 6 years.

I removed it a couple weeks ago and with an arc welder carefully spot welded the thing metal all the way around.......starting to stuff up again, so I got an exhaust shop to cut it out and replace with a straight through pipe.

Had a straight through pipe several years ago, got rid of it coz didnt want the attention with the noise...........over that now.
