Geez Max, they are a bit noisier but didn't think you'd hear them down there. You must be psychic!

Finally got a chance to see Ryano today and Bugger me! Like a magician out of a hat, he pulled out a set of Dick Cepek Crushers on Speedy Prado RIms in a +20 offset. Size 265/75 R16 or exactly 32"

Image

These are the first set of Crushers fitted to a fourby in Australia and they look pretty awesome

Image

Image

There is plenty of clearance at the mudflap

Image

but on full lock, there is just enough clearance (barely 5mm) from the upper control arm. Hard to show in a pic but the spot they will rub is in front roughly level with the front edge of the spring. don't you love the skulls on the sidebiters!

I could have some 33's on 285/85 R16's but Ryano was not keen on recommending the larger tyre. I'd say it would have been too much for the rims at this offset and you would have clearance issues without aftermarket UCA's. i reckon these will be fine for me.

Image

I am sworn to secrecy on the price I paid for these and a big thanks to Max for emailing me the link on Outers where Ryano was asking for people to trial the new DC tyres. He had 2 sets of Crushers and 2 sets of the new DC MT's in as a special order and he get them out there at cost. Anyway after a really good deal on my existing tyres and rims, the changeover was probably no more than the cost of the rubber I ave consumed driving on my current tyres.

at this stage there are no plans to bring any more in by the dstributor, but Fourbys are working hard to get them to change their mind so if you want to register your interest look up http://www.fourbys.com.au and give Ryan a call.

Because I have only had them on an hour so, I can't tell you much about hem. surprisingly quiet, not mch worse than my current tyres and not a whine like Swampers or Boggers, just a bit louder version of my current AT's. Got out on the highway briefly at 100k's and it ;looks like they are reading 103km at 100 and 61 at 60 km. Friday of a long weekend s not a good day to be testing tyres on a 2km stretch of tollroad I can get on wtout paying a toll.

Oh and I thnk Twisty might be  with envy. Ryano could not stop himself and emailed some pics of my rig he took in the shop

anyway looking forward to getting out and dropping the pressure down to 10-12 psi

Rod, first of all I have to correct your tyre size you quoted...it is not 285/85x16....that would make it a 35" tyre.....BULL would have a hard on...LOL

They are a 265/75x16.....

And yeah, you could say Im "internet" psychic...LOL

And to Twisty.....SUFFER!!!!!

Nah seriously, Im spewing I missed out on them too but my Ryano said I was too far away, you live round the corner.....How would you feel?

Im sure you'll get some nice rubber on your truck when it comes.

Rod, now go get her DIRTY!!!!!

I feel your pain Twisty! The Crushers might be a bit noiser than before, but I am sure they aren't 40 series noisy mate

Keep on Ryano's back, we want more of these in the country I reckon!

No, only had Dick Cepek DC-II AT's which i was very happy with so Hope I get a good run ot of these as well. It wil be interesting to compare these mild mannered Boggers with the Swampers I ran on my last (little) rig.

Finally had a chance to go for a bit of a drive. 10 cars or so followed me back into Scenic Rim Adventure Park where I went wth the triton boys over Easter.

Image

My Snorkel in the foreground. Might have been a bit of a mistake following me and deffinitely a mistake taking hassisbm's advice on tackling Patrol track.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Hate to say it, but the leader got stuck down the bottom. The road ahead went to nowhere. Was able to winch myself forward and back out of the gully I was straddled on. Left a mudflap and a flare behind in the process, but won't be too hard to get back on.

Image

So anyway with 12 cars down the bottom of the hill, sent 2 locked Partrols accross the Gully along another less well defined track but they gave up so we had to go back the way we came. That was a bit of a trial that lasted a couple of hours and sorry no pics cos was a bit busy. Stock V8 Cruiser caused us some grief. 2 x slingshot winches up the hill from behind, then 8 snatch straps from the top of the hill to get him the rest of the way. A couple of others similar. All the dual locked guys could drive it with a lot of black smoke (except the locked Frontera). Anyway, we got everyone up. My rig got the furthest of any rig running open diffs, aired the Crushers down to 12 psi and got way past the second tree we used for the winching. Got snatched the rest of the way behind a dual locked Cruiser

Anyway, got back to camp to find I had done a bit of damage to the sill. Bugger 2 days before I see Brooksy for a trial fitting tomorrow!

I'll have to get it fixed before the sliders go on. Maybe I should go the colour coded look on the sliders as well while the paint is mixed up. What do you reckon?

Thanks Twisty, Yes the Crushers performed awesomely. There was only a couple of cars behind me so the road was pretty powdery by the time it was my turn. Got stopped on a little ledge that needed front lockers and It would have made it all the way I think.

Rod.
You had fun mate didnt you.. There is worse things that could of happened. A bit of panel damage, I tend to call it character...... ;) ;) ;)
Id follow KTM's advice and powdercoat your Brooksy sliders black... The battle scars dont show up as much.
Like the look of the Crushers as well they look like a bar tread with a bit more anger...
Cheers

Thanks fellas, black it is then. The good thing about the Crushers is they are not much noiser than AT's on the bitumen so only have to run one set of tyres.
