I am not going to do aything with it, it actually ends in line with the bottom of the grill when fitted 8-)

So I will be using it for the base of the winch mount and also the front bar mount. At least that way both the winch and bar will be solid as and should be able to take a good hit 8-)

Not sure yet havent been able to stretch it out, but at a guess not a lot  The standard arms on the 80 bind up at about 5-6" I think Greg said when I spoke to him last.

I am getting slotted bushes put in the arms which will make a small improvement, but not much. Basically I will live with it for a year or so and save some more money. At that time I plan on fitting coilovers to the front and either doing a link suspension or maybe something like the superflex arms. Just dont have the $1400 for the superflex arms at this stage.

Yeh but to be honest the tools are needed and will be used for a long time to come. The supercharger is something I have always wanted and imo will be more beneficial in winch challenge type comps than the arms. Plus given I may add the coilovers I they may not be suitable and would just be more money down the drain. ;)

sounds like a plan :D so when ya look at it our hilux's with around 9.3'' of front travel isnt bad when compared to your live axel setup. but thats our maximum travel we can have unless we pay big bickkys for a SAS or a long arm kit. where you can spend half that and get double the ammount of travel 8-) lol

How do you get 9" of travel? Is that both sides dropped at once? If I lift both sides at the same time it drops a long way enough to drop out the 6" springs that were in there earlier. But when only lifting one side it binds up a lot earlier, ;)

I have decided to repaint the bonnet as it turned out crap and am really not happy with it all, the guards arent great but compared to the bonnet are show quality  I will get it done sometime not sure when see when I get motivated again.

I have also started the rollcage I have gotten the b pillar hoop bent up and all I will say is it sucked doing it on my own. I need to check with CCDA on the mounting requirements for the front stay, and pick up the 1.5" tube from Bubs before I can go any further. Will also have to borrow his die as I am not keen on spending $600 on one at the moment.

Actually pretty keen to get the cage finished and signed off as then I can paint the cab and do a final fit on the guards, doors and bonnet, will also get the windscreen and rear glass refitted at that stage. I just need to speak to MR about the price on some of those bling headlights as the ones I have are pretty much stuffed.

I got 9" of travel last time measured boof, from one side, fully drooped to fully compressed......but the tyre touched the top of the guard and I fitted a bump stop spacer, so I got just under that now......

Well I have someone coming over Saturday and they wanted me to mock the Lux up :? Any excuse will do in my case

So the 37s are back on the 2" lifted coils are fitted all round, and I have refitted the guards and doors. Will be glad when I can finally put it together as its looking better everytime I mock it up. Heres some pics.

Boof,

What a beast... looking really good.
Well done Mate!

With the supercharger and a bit of bling it will be a real head turner!
Hopefully the driver will be a match for the capabilities of the vehicle!!

Great stance on it... I reckon all the work you put into cab positioning is paying dividends right about now.

I'm chasing down some nice headlights this week and will hopefully have them ready when I send you your supercharger.

ETA on drivable status?
Early Jan?
Mid Jan?
Feb?

First competition?

Looking really good mate, keep up the good work.

Cheers
Matt

Cheers Rokit

Matt yeh I am pretty happy with the stance hoping it will come down a little still, but time will tell.

With regards to finish time not 100% at this stage will depend on how much I get done over the christmas break. Biggest issue I see is getting the cage signed off, I have to contact the CCDA this week and find out what the go is on a couple of issues and then what has to happen for it to be inspected and passed.

Once that is done I can get the cab painted and make a start on things like interior, wiring and getting the engine started. At this stage I am aiming for a late Feb/March finish, and then the 4wd Action shoot. Its first comp will be pretty much straight after the shoot as I wont be concerned about damage then

I agree mate....this is like some "rags to riches" story.

Like finding some homeless sheila in the gutter, needle in her arm, then cleaning her up, giving her a makeover, new teeth, liposuction, boob job, bog up her face abit, then turn her into the worlds best performing prono star!
