Checking out the truetrac, looks like a good piece.

Waiting for a new air filter to rock up, got bored and decided to have a play.
Removed the throttle body and took some measurements to compare it to the 'neck' behind it.
TB was 0.3mm larger at 12-6
TB was 0.7mm larger at 3-9
There is also a fairly abrupt lip directly after the flange as may be able to see in these pics:

So I got the die grinder out and set about opening the 'neck' up a little and smoothing the transition a little more.

And as you can see here, the transition through the TB and into the neck is now a lot smoother than it was before.
Image

So it is not much, maybe a little less turbulence at WOT, every bit helps.
If I went to a larger TB, then this mod would nearly be rendered useless as the 'neck' section would cop a heavy port to match.

Townsville Dragway copped some damage, strip itself is ok but buildings, smoko hut and stands (i'd call them 'grand' stands, but you should see these things  ) have copped a hiding.
Hopefully in a few weeks they'll have the gates open.

Yes, apparently the TB's off the Dual VVTi V6's in the FJ is larger and retro fits as well?
7th, yes. Nitrous, yes. I like to do homework. :geek:

You will proberly find a larger TB will give you very little if any gain, in my last car (boss 5.4l V8) you could go from a 75mm to a 80mm TB, the gains were non existent on the dyno and strip, the area increase from a 75mm to 80mm is about 15% area increase, also the main issue with a larger single TB is air flow at low rpm, the larger single TB will be less efficent due to less of a ventuery (not sure on spelling) effect which creats less throttle responce but if you went to the dual TB you get a much bigger gain in area but much better throttle responce, for example with the motor I mentioned above you can get a dual 60mm TB which has about a 27% increase in area and much better throttle responce right through the range. In a f/i aplication like jap's you might start to see a gain but with n/a i wouldn't expect much if any.
Like alot of things  larger is not always better.
If we could find a dual TB to suit our motor, I know of a mate that could make an adaptor plate at a small cost but you would need the X1 or similar software to reap full benifits.

Have you looked at changing out your cams!!! There can be a huge gain in power there. I'm looking at a 4l 1UZ V8 supercharged or twin turbo... Looked at a supercharged unit at Bullet motors they were wanting $16,000 but it had everything done. Power to ground would be 350hp at the wheels they said? Don't really know but it definitely looked the part looking at its build. I was leaning more towards the twin turbo for less to go wrong and tune-ability. Plus I've got my TT GTO (Mitsi) at 620kw at all 4, so I'm kind of use to that setup more so.

Anyhow loving the build and heres hoping you clip the 100 \m/

pulled 291rwhp at summernats on bp ultimate. Since then i've fitted a full hurricane exhaust (i already had their extractors) thanks to MARTY at Monster Rides. Run it up on the dyno yesterday with 95 octane in the tank, a best of 309.4rwhp, first run was 304, so it is fairly consistent. I'm happy for now lol but have some things in the pipeline, so stay tuned.

Ha ha...what can I say...I was doing the tourist thing and got in the wrong lane

On a more serious note, some extremely tuff individual decided to key the hilux at Stockland on Sunday morning  I wish they'd have waited for me instead of taking it out on the car, would be nice to meet them face to face. It'll be back to good-o in no time.

Sorry to hear that mate, notorious for getting trolley and car door dings there too. Not good.

Couldn't stop to say hello, your induction system was acting as gravitational pull and I figured I should get out hell of there before Townsville became the dark side of the moon...

Are you making any adjustments to the tune on the X1 with these new mods Jap or still original tune when you first installed the X1?
