Thanks mate...its what I was always after...for as much stability as possible offroad. Especially when climbing up steep tracks..last thing you want is an overly tall ute giving you that tippy feeling. :?

Small Update-

Hilux performed really well on her first "decent" offroad trip in quite a while....report here--> http://www.newhilux.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=16&p=173809#p173809

This morning I fitted a set of the the Progressive Bump Stops that Monster Rides will be now supplying with Rekon kits.

Image

These come with a little washer that must be fotted ontop of the bumpstop between the bumpstop and the chassis mount.....otherwise long term failure "may" result as stated on the instructions.

These didn't come with any mounting bolts but I had a couple appropriate bolts lying around.

Image

They are hollow through their center so the bolt goes up the middle.

You'll be able to fit a 14mm deep kinchrome socket within the hole....just.

How do they feel offroad Max? I read on the tacomaforums that they take abit of the jolt away when bottoming out?

I only just fitted them this morning so havent driven the hilux with them yet.

Will take it to the back paddocks in the next few days to test out and compress.

Yes, they are supposed to take the jolt out that the factory ones give.

Couple with the Rekon Valving, Im expecting a very smooth compression. And it can only benefit the front end. 8-)

are they the same rubber compound all the way up the bumpstop max? do they have a limit on how much they compress? to stop the tyre fouling up inside the guard?

yes they are the same rubber compound on initial appearances all the way through.

Obviously as it compresses it'll expand to a certain point.

They are made to directly replace the factory ones so they would probably compress to close the same total height as factory I would assume.

if not, then its easy to slap a thick washer behind it.

Ill give it a run offroad and get some compressed pix when I get a chance and post them up.

i like the idea behind this, will take some fiddling to get it right with the upper guard clearance and maybe even the strut bottoming out before the bumpstop?

The strut will never bottom out before the bumpstop does!

what about the spring binding under full compression before the bumpstop? that my theory on why bilsteins bend easy with 3 and 4 inch lift...dont know about rekon but i assume they use the same length coil, the adjustable lower ciol seat would help the rekon gear overcome it tho

wont happen Dan, these bump stops are made for our vehicles/taco's/fj's, so they wont compress any further than the factory ones at most.

Rekon struts wont overcompress before the LCA bottoms the bump stop. Period.

Thats why its such a good kit, everything is matched to work togerther smoothly.
