I had an exedy h/d clutch put in mine for about $1200 fitted, if you are going the exedy make sure you specify h/d because exedy also do a standard clutch for our trucks, the h/d one is bright pink and the difference in price between the two is only about $100 so it's well worth the extra money.

Well I beg to differ. Just for the numbers my clutch was replaced after 40000 and every single 4wd 'lux where my Dad works (all 47) have had their clutch replaced. And half have had two.

I have just had mine out in the desert and we were in a bit of water and mud in Birdsville. They are now telling me that they found water in it and it won't be covered by warranty.
Has anyone had problems like this.
We were going through a fair bit of mud and water but never stopped in any for even a second. Would have thought they could of handled this.
It's only got 29,000 k's on it.

Indeed. Worth subscribing. These guys have helped me out a great deal and I'm too happy to support the cause when I get some spare cash I'll make a point of doing so.

At the rate the clutches are failing, it's very concerning. Toyota must realize it's costing them money and start sending vehicles into the country with decent clutches fitted. After all, we don't want a clutch failure in the desert!

I also agree that sometimes you have to say screw the warranty and fit better products than keep going back and having Toyota's ice cream wafer assembly fitted. If their clutch fails and you supply the parts, there is no reason why they wouldn't fit your part with their labor as a one off and final time you can go back with clutch issues under warranty. This is what I would be doing.

It's the same as if they sell you an ARB bull bar as aftermarket fitting on new vehicles as an example. They should come to the party anyway.

The cost of a clutch kit is as simple as pricing one from a distributor or see if Ultimate has any left over from his group buy.

Make sure the tail shaft is phased properly. This causes a bad shudder off the mark. The 2 rear grease nipples must align, the front one doesnt. Check the witness paint marks on the flages to double check.
