Dave, just don't know what to upgrade too... thought about the 79 series wagons but their motors are just as bad I hear. I do love the Hilux, the V6 auto seems to be the most reliable out of the lot of them, have contemplated on an engine conversion with 80 series front & rear diffs, which I am still thinking about.. it's all too hard!

Spewing lindlakebusa is it still under warranty? not sure if it would be your piston but does sound like a turbo failure :( how is it getting too much boost, from a chip?

no warranty there is a hole and crack across the piston and my boost gauge was showing over 20 psi boost some times my gauge goes to max 20 psi so i do not know how high it was going before engine blew up

Toyota have replaced my turbo also at 30000km.
I`ve the 2.5 D4D with intercooler (120hp).
A turbo should last more than 30000km! Toyota told me that the new turbo is improved.

Glad to hear it was under warranty... :D

Hi Guys,
I look after about 80 of these on a mine site in the Pilbara and havn't had a turbo leak badly yet.
Most Luxes do clutches and have diff breathing issues, pinion bearing faults and the like.
I bought a my09 Sr5 because of how well they have stood up in these conditions compared to the Navaras and 100 series cruisers.

Sorry to hear you have had so many issues Dave
