What were your warranty claims and recall information

Hey Olcoolone,
I am seeing the positive side, I am now positive that my vehicle is not part of this recall. That's a positive thing that I do not have to see a stealer for another repiar/ bodgee fix.

Toyota is showing that it is committed to thier product buy fixing the issue (19 of them). Now it's up to the stealers to f$@#&% it up. And the stealers will do that quite well.

Theives are thieves and always will be.

Regards,
Cam

No mate, just tell them you service the mine sites. as this is what my sources up here are saying:

They are checking two sections, one where the steel plate overlap, if there not crack here, they bolt on or weld on some sort of strengthening bracket depending on where the vehicle is located, if its a diesel, or a mine vehicle. In the second inspection area, if there is a crack they have to replace the entire crossmember.

The inspection and bolt on repair is supposed to take 3 hours, if the crossmember needs replacing then they will book the vehicle in for 2 days and give you a loan car in the meantime.

It looks like they have to remove the centre bring bracket itself to check behind it.

If 'A' isnt cracked then carry out Bolt-On or Weld-On repair depending on geographic location, diesel or mine-site vehicle.

reading that, dosent it mean that all diesels will get it replaced ??

Interesting point you have raised Steve

Does this mean if your unable to convince your Local dealer to install the “Heavy Duty” replacement cross member and they carry out the second option for light duty work that your vehicle could be devalued by “well informed” second hand dealers and buyers ????

Still love my Lux just encase anyone was thinking I’m insulting it :D

Just speaking to my dealer serviceman on an unrelated matter and he said that Toyota has to send them out special tooling etc to do the work so it sounds like a big $$$$ deal for Toyota.

BTW: I hear a lot of people complaining about dealers and getting warranty work done, I have found the opposite with my local dealer who is willing to go into bat for you to get a repair done as a warranty claim if that is a reasonable expectation.
On the internet you can be anything you want. It is strange that so many people choose to be stupid!

Gulfstrean8, If it's a safety recall there are no time limits or number of owners so even if your Hilux wasn't repaired a future owner can still get it done.

It shouldn't affect resale value.

Hi guys

I'm new to this site, but it's great to have so much info in one place. I signed my life away on a new SR5 last week... same day as the radio announcement (funnily enough on the way home from said signing :? ). So called my dealer straight away and, as some of you mentioned, he knew nothing about it. Next day he returned my call (Friday) and said it would be fixed before I picked it up (tomorrow). Today I get a phone call to say I might have to wait till next week. If it wasn't for some of you here, I would seriously be in the dark (as the service manager didn't quite seem to understand). My mind is more at ease now and at least, it'll be fixed before there are any significant problems.

had ours in for a service today - we had also booked it in for the recall for next Monday - the service manager rang me to confirm that they had inspected it and it had already been strengthened so no work was required (late feb 2010 build) so all should be good...

I seen this last week. Just for fun i enetered the chassis number details off my sales contract and low and behold my un owned brand new hilux is also effected , grumble grumble grumble.

When i informed the dealer they said they were un aware but would look into it. My new truck is 03 complied but 02 built so it falls in the window of recalls. My truck has been ready to pick up since monday but they cant let it off the yard and into my hands until the modifiactions have been done. As mine is brand new it would be unlikely to have cracks, yet they said the repair/modification must be done any way just in case. Mine is a Turbo Diesel.

I was told that due to the numbers that the letters would probably be staged so the dealers don't get swamped. I'm guessing that this could be why they haven't msiled out yet to let the keen ones sort theirs out first and then gradually prompt the rest.

Finaly punched mine into the database... yep infected. Will wait for the letter, had a look though no cracks. I just think its funny how many people are on here now and how many clutches have died but none of us have had this problem. Especially with some of the mods we have and the size and use of our trucks !!!
Im not stuck..... Im thinking

I just input my VIN number into the "Is my car affected?" and it is coming up as yes it is. Mine is a 06/10. Maybe the problem is for later than Feb vehicles also.
