hey davo.

well i guess this is a pretty old thread ^^ last post 2009.
I should think that by now uve made ur mind up and be all sorted.
Im in the same boat as you, with the steel tray, steel bullbar. with winch and dual batteries in mind for the near future....

What did you end up going? Pleased with it?

Also if anyone has and thoughts on what to do as ive got airbag helpers in the back and as a builder have crap in the back most of the time? How will this effect me with raising the rear? spacers?

Thanks for any help....

Can't praise the Recon shocks from Monster Riders high enough. Absolutely staggering for a standard size shock without even a remote canister let alone internal bypasses. I'm recommending them to all my Hilux driving mates.

Most places quote that same line due to the bad reputation of the pre-05 torsion bar IFS hilux's that couldnt go any higher than 2".

Suspension tech and vehicle design has come a long way since then and most retailers still quoting you that line are just uneducated and not versed in whats around now.

Im looking at getting tough dog rear springs and shockies and king springs at the front. For about $1100 (plus installation). What are people thoughts on this setup. I have a 07 sr5 dual cab, with bull bar, winch and dual battery. The back is mainly empty but needs to handle towing a caravan and heavy loads at times

If you're in Brissy I could recommend the 2" setup by Fourbys.

I've got the same kind of gear on my current model dual cab and their kit works well.

They used Kings springs up front, EFS +300kg leaves at the rear and Bilstiens all round.

Give them a bit of flexing over the weekend and was please as usual with the performance compared to other kits I've had.

Has anyone got opinions in regards to the Recon vs EFS?

I've had my eyes on the Recon kit, but i'm not sure what i'd need exactly in terms of stages.
I do mostly city driving (to and from work), but do intend to try get into a lot of off-roading. Possibly not as extreme as some people on here, but enough to give my lux a bit of a bashing.

My aim is to get 2" - 3", with 32's. I have an arb delux bar (no winch) at the moment, and do later look at upgrading to winch compatible, or even possible a Xrox bar with winch later.

Would a Recon stage 1 be enough for that? Or would I need to work through the Recon stages pretty quickly?
If that's the case, maybe i'm better off looking at the EFS?
Cheers,
Jay

To be honest, I don't think there is much in it between these lift kits and I can say that I have not had any dramas with EFS. Mine was s'posed to be 40 mm but came up around 60-70mm. I then put on a Sahara bar and it really only came down about 8 mm and hasn't budged since- pretty good if you ask me

Broke

I'm getting the Sahara bar on mine. The EFS sounds the goods, mate. Has the handling improved for you?

Heasman Steering Sydney - Bilstein Shocks

TRD Bilstein Shocks with bags in the back so you have a comfortable ride when your empty.

The valveing used in the TRD Bilsteins are amazing as a lot of R&D was put into these to get the perfect combination of off road and on.

Has anyone had good results with the opposite lock suspension, I'm getting a few things through them and was after ome but they don't sell it and recommended their own, its around $1800 for a 2 inch lift.
