Hey Mmaaxx..
Have noticed that the other two threads that are linked to this thread have a wealth of information in them... So its a bit easier to read do you want to update the appendices section with some of the research from the other two threads?
Noticed you have been working on some drawings on correcting the mounts for the ARB bullbar. Some other members on here also have sucessfully BL there luxes and an inclusion of their build up threads would be also great as well.
Happy to help with the update.
Cheers
Mark

the side view of that lux looks pretty ridiculas, look how low his side steps are and how much chassy rails u can see, should have put more of an agle on his sliders to cover that up, same with his exaughst

I agree mate.....but take the exhaust off, the wanky side steps and front nudge bar and you will see just how much room there is......

Ive modified the above pick to remove the wanky items and drew a red line to follow the lower body of the hilux -

now add a front bullbar/tube bar and some sliders and that thing will look tall as.

still alot of chassy rail hanging down, I'm with twisty a 40-50mm body lift is ideal, less work, you still get the clearence and it doesn't look over the top and limits ur center of gravity maybe that little bit needed. Also a 40mm body lift would allow the perfect access to the chassy rail to make a set of sliders practicall shtraight out from the rails without having to angle down to clear the sill joint.

He makes the Quinny.

I've been trying to get him to make me a set for a while... but I don't want them that big... about 2/3's of that size would be ideal. They will still be expensive though... I reckon at least $1600 landed here.

The quest continues!!

if you install a body lift before you add the bar work. than does it all have to be moded up to suit the extra height?

Like if you have all the bar work done than add a body lift, you have to mod all the brackets to suit the lux!
but what if you did it the other way round.... lift than bar work :?:

Yeh mate, do the body lift first then sort all the bar work out. Problem is that the bars you buy are not deisgned to accommodate a body lift.

Interesting, I think based on feedback from the HPOC forum that the 3" UK body lift kit extends the steering shaft the same way the VMN Body lift kit does. If you really want to go to that height Jack, let me know, It'll be easy to sort it out for you mate, but highly illegal! Remember my machinist made some steering shafts that were 10 mm too long! I told him not to throw them out in case sonebody wanted them.

I suspect that the UK kit has a 3" lift becasue they extend the steering using a cut off Toyota steering shaft from a wrecker which would be an ideal length for a 3" kit. And they charge twice the price I do!

so doesnt really matter what order i do it in i will still need to fiddle round getting the bar work to sit proply....

well your kit already offers 50mm lift doesnt it?
not too sure if i would want to go much more than that, if any at all!
ill wait till a few of the members who bought your kit post up some pics so i can have a look, i am sure it will look sweat....

Do you know what the max body lift is for nsw that legal?

Easiest way is to get some high density foam and glue it to the engine cover. I have another idea but have not tried it. It involves making a box out of 50mm x 25mm Alumium channel iron and attaching it between the rubber skirt and the hood. This will extend the rubber skirt down. Should work. I have some material here but not tried making the box.

I've been looking at doing the CAL/Bilstien 3inch kit,,,,,,,, 2 inch body lift ,,,,,,,, GU Patrol steel rims(+10 offset i've been told)..Either way thay fit and sit out... AND RUN 285/75/16 BF GOODRICH KM2's.....Has any one done this tyre/offset/lift combo,,,,, From what i have read it sounds like the most resonably priced way to get the ute up without cutting and welding...................OR HAVE I MISSED SOMETHING..................

One thing to think about is the legal side of it all. The body lift will require engineer's certificate regardless and it may not pass with the 3" lift. I believe your head lights height will be above the maximum level and it will get knocked back. The 285/75/r16s will also probably scrub on the body mount which legally can't be modified.
