Greasing the Greasable Shackles

Greasing the Greasable Shackles

Hey guys,

I have the OME suspension upgrade with the Greasable Shackle Kit.
A couple of days ago I tried to Grease the Greasable Shackles.
I have no trouble with the top Grease Pins, but with the lower one, I cannot get the Grease gun to fit.
I went back to ARB & told them I cannot reach the lower pin & they said when they jack the vehicle up it changes the angles & it can be greased.
I thought the purpose of getting the Greasable Shackles was to grease them up very easily. This is not the case

I have tried to find a right angle attachment for the Grease Gun, so I can easy get to the lower Grease pins but cannot locate it from Repco, super Cheap Auto, Bunnings & other shops.

Has anyone else had this kind of problem & how has it been overcome.

david i dont know if this will work or not but it may be worth a try, what if you drive only one front wheel up onto a ramp, just thinking you might get enough flex out of the back diff to drop the shackels down.:-) ;)

I suppose youve got the normal grease nipples fitted, years ago on trucks the nipples were flatter and wider and the gun would sort of slide on to the nipple instead of pushing on, i always thought they were much better, and tougher and would stand the occasional clout.

Dont know if you can get them still in the same thread to fit yours.

This might be a way of making the job simpler, any engineers on should know what i'm trying badly to explain.

Judd the pom.;)

David,
You can buy right angle grease nipples from Repco. Easer than finding the gun end in right angle. Try that first. Not sure what thread ARB use but many threads are available.
