32 on the new hilux ?

Postby Tunnel Rat on Sun, 16 Sep 2007 10:23 +0000

Hi people I had plans of getting a 3" lift so I could fit 32 under my new lux with no problems of rubbing.I was just talking with a guy who had 32"on his new lux but now put his 31" back on again. When asking what happened to the 32"'s he said he could no longer stand the gearing with the 32" on.His problems were his fuel consumption had gone up it no longer sat at a good rpm at 110km/h on free ways and in general just did not seem as good as it did with the 31's.So he has gone back to 31's till he gets the money to change the gearing of the vehicle.

It is a manual trany so how do you guys find it with 32" on a manual new hilux.
If I am just going to use 31" I might as well just put a OME 2"kit on and save 700 bucks by not going with the 3" kit.
Any help here would be great.

thx

Tunnel Rat,

Are lower differential gear ratios available?

AFAIK, it's not available.

Refer to my post:
http://www.newhilux.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=811

I'm using 31" so wouldn't be able to comment on the 32".

Regards
Cheers

Thanks guys
9W6VX I am not sure about the availability of the gear's.
Saab thats the way I am going I think. It's just to easy & no worriers with insurance with the OME kit as well.

Tunnel Rat,
I have 265/75/16,s muddies on a two inch lift. Gearing has changed a bit on the worse i think but i,m thinking of doing the exhaust and putting in a chip into it to compensate. Fuel consumption has also increased and the speedo is out about 5k,s an hr to the gps
