Nice choice, the alloy chrome finish is the best way to go with the new lux.8-)

New rims?

Mate, I don't want to rain on your parade... but I would certainly be concerned with buying rims from a guy on EBay, especially when he says they are to fit the new SR5..they should be and need to be a +30 offset... or you may have trouble with bearings and steering/suspension components.... IE, exess pressure being applied to your steering and suspension components and wheel bearings... its like a lever.. different offset will place differing loads on components that are not designed for it.. Mate I would just ask him to put it in writing and give you a garrentee that if the offset(IF incorrect) will not adversly effect the other components in your car...EG.. putting landcruiser offset rims on a Hilux (old Type) ... wheel bearing failure was pretty common... Cheers TOMUCH

New rims?

TOMUCH,

I emailed the bloke for the wheels again to confirm the offset and he said (i think he may have taken some offence to me inquiring actually, but who cares) he not only runs the ebay store but runs a real wheel store asweel and stated the following -

" These wheels are -5 offset. They will fit as long as you have the flared guards as I said. They will fill the guards out nicely to the edge of the flare. "

I dont understand that much about offset, sorta hard to get your head around it at times but Im taking his word for it.

New rims?

Postby Hilux Max on Tue, 17 Jul 2007 3:41 +0000

thanks mate, Yeah I enquired with a few places and it'll be fine for 265's and a 3" lift. supposedly nobody yet, that Ive talked to that has tried, has fitted a wheel and a 285 tyre that doesnt rub yet.

ATS in geelong has tried using 80series offset and still needs to cut into the guards to succeed and Fourbies in brisbanes having the same problem.

I will stay with a 3" lift and 265's, atleast I know that'll work well.8-)
