Yep, kinda thought the same at first, buy Ryano said being 17" Light Truck (LT) tyres, they are rated for a lot more weight than what the hilux is, so the pressures dont need to be as high. He said there would be no problems going as low as 25psi on the rear.

I've got over 20,000kms on them now, rotated every 5k, and they are wearing great.

i'm thinkin of fitting 17" mickey thompson sidebiters or classic II with o offset. was going to fit a bf goodrich mud terrain km2 or mt mtz in same size.

i usually use bf goodrich all terrain but have never tried a mud tire before. they are used 60% road, i really like the look of the mud tires and i'm wondering which one is the better tire and how do the perform on the tarmac? we have wet and dry roads over here.

You can get Mickey Thompson atz in 285 70 17 I am getting a set on Monday after I do body lift with rod on weekend

Well did the body lift on Sunday with rod and Marc and went to put on the 285 70 17 s atz and they did not fit the tyre was hittin the control arm . What's everyones idea to get over this problem ? A cheapish idea would be good cheers

What rims are you running? Sounds like you need a more negative offset?

You've got 4 options that i can think of:

1. new rims, with more negative offset
2. new control arms, which will hopefully give u the clearence on the inside of the tire.
3. wheel spacers. Altough i think there Illegal in QLD
4. Narrower tires.

Rims are speedy prados 17 x 7.5 off set of Et 30 and the Mickey Thompson atz have overall diameter of 833 mm . Max the wheels were hitting on the control arm when it was turned only.

Ive heard a few blokes running this setup on their Prados on PradoPoint forum and they said a 6mm spacer releived it.

Wihtout seeing it its hard to tell but UCA's would help, thou the factory +30 offset IS a little too positive for a tyre of this height and width.

Id reccomend selling the wheels and going something aftermarket with more negative offset.....you may be lucky and be able to trade your current wheels in and only pay a difference. Get it done all at once.

So what would you consider to be a better offset for this tyre / rim combo? 10 - 15 ?

+15 TO +10.

The FJ cruiser is about to be released officially next month...you can guarantee there'll be yuppies fitting 24" plus wheels to them, so the factory 17x7.5's will be for sale.

these factory FJ rims are a +15 offset and will work perfectly to fit the tyres you want mate.

Id be selling your wheels now and getting the cash ready to pounce on them when they hit the market.

The wheels with the factory offset you have you are really limited to a 32" tyre.

Good thinking max I think I will see how much I can get for a trade in on my rims at Fourbys or bye some new rims and tyres that work and put my current rims on e bay .
