More specifically I'm looking at claws which are 34.5x12 when on a 16" rim.

Fitting 35's means you need to comprimise somewhere.

I was touching the swaybar with 305's on zero offset 16x8's. Then I removed it.

The wider the offset you go, the further the tyre will be from the chassis rail itself at the rear. But in turn, you increase the scrub radius, meaning the tyre will be closer to the actual fender/firewall itself when turning.

This is where the on hilux's you run out of clearance. Its why i chose a +10 but I guess a zero or so will work if using a bodylift which moves that portion of the body/firewall up and out of the way a little.

I'd still reccomend some form of steering limiting...it will help offroad when under compression.......

Ahk, mmm, always another factor to think about, It'd be pricey enough limiting steering as you've done it I'd imagine.
not particularly a fan of sway bar removal, mainly just cause I think a lux that's got 35's and a lift is going to affect drivability, although I admit I haven't driven a lux on 35s haha hence where you're inputs appreciated max. And yes I realise it must sound stupid for me to say I'm worried about drive ability with sway bar removal after I've already lifted the lux and talking about 35's. I just think I'd rather go neg offset and chop more and keep the sway bar.

I'm just gona keep spit balling, ive got rekon and 2" bl, with -12 offset, would ya physically have to cut the firewall? I see the likes of goons on -22 with the 35" on 15" wheel, which if I'm not mistaken is a bigger tire (his were MT tires weren't they?) I wouldn't wanna do that extent of work, but if it was just hammering fire wall, cutting body mount and trimming rear of the surrounding body panel, I'd be up for it.

You running Rekon - take swaybar off one weekend and go for drive around town.

In my opinion it was barely noticeable that it had been removed. But the choice is yours.

re: Steering stops.

Go to a wrecker and get a pair of Prado120 lower ball joint brackets, they are the same as the FJ.

then mod it.

Has anyone thought of running 35x10.5 r16? Or even 11.5 wide? There are silver stones and simexs on eBay in that size. Given that the width is only a 265ish scrubbing issues while turning would be minimal. I'm considering getting these as a easy option to running 35's. Don't see the point in getting 33's just to wish I got 35's

My bighorns are just over 11.5 inches wide. Yes 10.5 would be a better option but simex and silverstones are very aggressive. Consider Interco tyres. Espwcialy the SSR which is a typical muddie or a Q78 swamper which is juay over 35 by 10'ish wide.

Just updating this thread for refernce;

After adjusting my front suspension height on the weekend and getting an alignment done, my headlights are now sitting at the same height as my hilux was on 33's and 3" lift.

I am running 590mm from hub center to "chopped" fender.

This equates to a 2" lift or a bees dick above it.

Just wanted to explain that running 35's is doable on 2" or just over lift IF you run UCA's for max castor and do all the trimming to make it happen. (steering stops and wheel offset help too).

5.3 degrees LHF Castor 4.6 degrees RHF.

Going to fit steering limiters and trial some More 35's tmr. Keen as  haha anyway, just got the impression from re-reading page one that some of you guys get away with having no inner plastic guard? Or did I miss read, just wondering whether or not you get a bucket load of mud in there? And I realise I would need to fit a snorkel or at least mod the air intake before fitting.
Cheers :) wish me luck haha

You get a little but nothing major. And once dry it just tumbles out.

The door seals keep everything out. theres no mud/water getting in there.

Then again those two conditions I try and stay clear off.

Yes, snorkel would help alot.
