has anyone had any drama fitting utemart extra wide flares (50mm) with 33" tyres. i just fit them to my car and i gave them a little trim where you cant see at the bottom of the front flares but it still looks like it might hit off road under flex. anyone else came across this problem?

P.S what a nightmare to fit these flares hahaha never again

Really? I'm about to order some of the wider ones, sick of mud spraying up the side. Still ordering them though :D why were they so hard to fit?

There worth putting on there just a pain to put on because they take a lot of effort to get them to sit flat on the panel . It might be my fault because I used a big hammer to flatten out the pinch weld in the guard and that might of shifted things around . You'll need a file and a heat gun and a lot of patience ... Look good when there on but it would be worth getting someone else to do the job .

It will, fairly tight fit. Fits with the Toyota tow bar but it won't fit with a hayman Reece tow bar as it sits higher and closer in. I've got a 3" humex exhaust which made it an even tighter fit, almost touching everywhere but does still fit.

I've got a 3" Humex too, and my 33's don't even go close to fitting. They won't fit between the exhaust and the shackles, misses by at least an inch, maybe more.

Slightly off topic but might be related... Seems to be more of a problem now that i have the 33's on.
I've ripped my rear mud flaps off twice now while wheeling. Has anyone else had this and what are you guys doing to alleviate this problem?

Cheers

Ditch the flaps for wheeling. You will always mannage to pull them of somehow, even with a custom solution, mud flaps will never stay on with any type of hardcore wheeling situation that involves mud and articulation.

Mine are off permanently because i cant be bothered to put them on and off. One of the trade offs for running 33's

Yes mine are of permanently as well, Rocket55 had a great suggestion if your wanting to retain a bit of protection, grab a set of 2 wheel drive Hilux flaps they are the same but a shorter cut.

I also noticed the mudflaps getting in the way when 4wding so I stole this idea of a comp truck I saw running a similar set up... It works a treat offroad and onroad. It's a small rachet strap from super cheap, and only took a few minutes to fit.

Dan,

depending what state your in the rules on mudflaps are different.....not running mudflaps is one option but its a simple little thing that could get the eyes of the law onto your vehicle unecessarily.

Here in Victoria the law states that the mudflaps cannot be higher than 30mm off the road surface. If yours are higher due to lift then alternatives might need to be explored.

I made a set of removable mudflaps when I cut my rear quarters.

These are a simple large sheet of rubber, set back on a removable brackets/frame that I unbolt when offroad. and its larger than most mudflaps which should keep the law happy, even if they dont look factory

I saw them first time on Erics tacoma and got some ideas and tips off him. They work well. I dont see why something similar couldnt be made up to suit a non chopped rear quarter.

the tyres are 33 X 12.5 X 15 and rims are 8x 15".

Only a certin type of 8" rims will fit over the front brakes for our rigs. Try Matty @ MR he has them.

As for the 33's on a 2" lift, i would not think so, might have to look at 3" coils

Thanks boys! Think I'll just take them off when I go wheeling. My rear right is somewhere along the northern part of the strip road.. Guess I'll have to buy a new set :P

Ok, guys, here goes...

How am i going to go about fitting 33's and -25 offset steel 15x8's on?

I dont wanna tear my guards to shreds, and i've kinda figured i will need to chop the bodymount + trimming inside the wheel well.

Was looking at 10.5 or 11.5, as i think 12.5's might be too much.

I'm already going to space the bumpstop 6mm.

Any other points of interest i should be looking at?

Thanks in advance.
Aaron

change your wheels...your asking for trouble with that much negative offset and you arent prepared to tear the guards to shreds....

get the right offset, do it right first time. save yourself uneccessary headaches.
