DIG Options GPS

Postby stquinny on Mon, 03 Aug 2009 7:54 +0000

Don't know if it has been covered. I have purchased a DIG Options in dash GPS/TV/DVD/Reverse camera and Ipod compatible unit from Ebay. Has anyone fitted one of these? Im having dramas with the sound quality from the ipod.
I could not get the link to send but this is the address so just copy and paste it.

These units seem pretty good... good price...

Would suit members looking for a very easy plug and play method to get good functionality with minimal cost and setup.

Re the Ipod issue, it may be the inbound iPod volume is to high causing it to distort on the way in and therefore out,

Have you tried playing straight from media cards or USB instead? (Trying to work out if its an overall sound issue or just the iPod interface)

Not sure if you need to be a member or not to view posts?

Prado point have a large number of satisfied users, and the seller also frequents the forum there.

Not sure on the 3D topo but certainly the Ozi maps that have been rendered for the PDA you can.... I've already got a good portion of Vic and NSW converted over if you go ahead with the purchase...

Just remember they are like a PDA and not a PC... (Has its pro's and cons... one pro being the PDA version of Ozi is much better and easier to use on the move)

Can the Ipod be connected with a cable similar to the ones used on Alpine head units, being able to control the whole Ipod from the head unit so you dont have to take your eyes off the road?
Cheers,
Luke

I checked Pradopoint and no one else seems to have the drama of ipod quality. Only just the direct control for the ipod through the head unit. I'll try the aux input when I return home from work. I did try it before though. It just sounds very crackly. The DVD and CDs sound find it is only the ipod. I tried the misses ipod and it still sounded the same. Once I can sort out the ipod I'll be a very happy buyer. All the rest works a treat. I already have maps and Ozi CE on a pda so I can just transfer this across to a mirco card and it all should be apples!

Thats the only thing holding me back from getting one. I want the direct control of the ipod through the head unit so theres less distraction while driving. Can any maps be loaded onto the head unit, such as off road and on road?
Cheers,
Luke

Another interested party hear for a group buy.

Although maybe we should just send the guy a link to this thread and say he'll give us a discount or free shipping if we mention newhilux forum? its a bit easier than a group buy when we all live in differnt areas, and the postage is only from Oz anyway.

Digital radio starts today,

Has anyone got information about this and what effect it will have on the AM/FM we are using now?

Is it like AM stereo that never took off?

Or like every thing else digital, is it the way of the future?

Do these DIG options work on digital? Can they be upgraded?

Lots of questions, hope you have the answers...
