How To - DIG Options TP09X1 Unit Install Part 2 Camera Done!

Re: DIG Options GPS

Hi woody.
I've just finished installing mine today inc the camera and cant fault it. The only issue that i have (posted above) is the gps. I think it may be a faulty antenna.
I havent got the tv tuner yet but probably will soon. Mine came with a tv antenna for analogue that's wired into 12v but i never bothered...think i'll grab the set top box.
Someone posted a while back that they got a FM booster from supercheap (about $25 dollars) but dunno how good it was.

Dont bother with the fm booster. They dont just amplify the signal, the static gets amplified too. I'm still looking for a solution to the shitty reception. Stoked with everything else with the unit.

I've just installed one yesterday (thanks to my awesome girlfriend buying me one for my birthday, also bought me the ARB onboard air compressor, what a top chick!!!!) and have no drama with Radio reception. Don't care about TV....

I can't get the Ipod or radio to stay on when changing mode to GPS though. This is a real problem for me and I will need to get it sorted or it will come back out. Must be a minor issue though because it is blatently advertised as dual mode. Got to have tunes whilst navigating the tracks....
Will sort it tomorrow with Mat, unless one of you boys can steer me in the right direction....

While your in the GPS screen.....
Press and hold the BAND button untill you go back to the main screen.
You should then be able to select ipod, radio etc.

I think it automaticly goes back to GPS screen (with tunes in the background) after a few seconds from memory.

Hmm i dont get any static on mine at all... maybe you need to put a an inline ferrite core on as well if you're getting static..

I definately notice a difference on reception on mine..

Thanks Flecky,

All good now! actually have to push an hold Band to switch back and forth between GPS and Last mode. Works a treat!

Now to start with Ozi explorer. Might have to jump onto their forum because I've not used that software at all, I'll probably end up with the PC and CE versions though.....

good Stuff steve......its a good looking unit....

Ill be honest, Im not up to speed on this sort of high tech stuff (high tech for me anyway), but was wondering, the camera you wired in....that looks good...but is there any option available in the unit to get you to wire in say 4 cameras?

and then swap between each one independantly through the screen?

would help with some offroading situiations where you could install a camera infront of each wheel in the guard area and see exactly what each tyre is doing at all times.....

cheers

There is only one wire (car Back - brown) to activate the reverse camera mode. The trigger wire is usually connected to the reversing wire from the gearbox or the reversing light.

This activates the mode in the unit which brings in the video input on the CCD plug. It is possible to do what you require but not within the TP09X1. You could wire 4 cameras into an AV switch box mounted under the dash and use it to switch between cameras and just use a toggle switch to activate the reverse mode on the Car Back wire. You could even put a diode into the reverse wire input and still have it default to reversing mode and just leave the camera selected on the AV selector for normal use.

My question is: How many cameras do you need? 4 wheels have 2 directions each........

I actually did think about this possible setup just for one extra camera on the bull bar. I like the idea of a forward and slightly downward facing camera for those situations where the vehicle angle is upward and you’re on a summit and have no idea what the track brings ahead unless you actually get out and have a look.

Max, the other thing you would need to consider is that cameras at all 4 wheels may prove to be unhelpful offroad in situations where they would get covered in dirt/mud/water, if you think of a way to create a small windscreen wiper to clean the camera lens im listening!
