Low oil level on inclines

Postby john.r.raynor on Wed, 24 May 2017 3:37 +0000

Hi guys,

Has anyone else noticed the low oil level warning? It fills the whole screen between the gauges and says something like warning low oil level, check oil level. The first time I noticed it I was stopped on the incline after climbing a particularly steep incline pretty slowly, it actually cut the engine off. I slowly came back down with engine off, and checked oil level on level ground - all good. So I assume the oil level sensor is located somewhere at the front of the motor which leaves it high and dry on an incline. My question is whether or not the engine can effectively lubricate itself i.e is actual oil pickup able to get oil on both steep inclines and declines. It's not something I've ever thought of and if the warning hadn't shown and the engine cut (assuming to save itself given it "thought" it had no oil) I wouldn't have ever given it a thought.
