Postby lukey on Mon, 18 Aug 2008 5:14 +0000

Hey,

Anyone done a solid axle swap? I'm keen as mustard but not sure about a few things:

-6" or 4"
- 80 series axle or old lux
- cross link etc

Hey Lukey,

Yeah I gotta 80 series front modified to fit into mine. I got a 6" lift as well as 35's at the same time. (TOMUCH has the link to my profile above) It is quite an extensive job in the end.
Be prepared to be without your car for a while too, and ain't cheap.

There are a lot of small things to consider when doin a swap like this. I'll be able to help you out if ya need to but if I was to do this again i'd prolly look at a total chaos kit or similar first.

Since it was off the road for so long I haven't really taken it off road yet as I can't afford to have her outta action for that sort of time again.
Been down a few tracks but only with the rear locker on, went through these tracks without battering an eyelid and when I had standard susp/tyres I had been stuck on a number of occassions, same weather conditions.

I'm currently in the process in getting her engineered/certificated and after all that I'll be giving the lux a few tests through some pretty mental tracks! Just hope the mud doesn't dry up too soon!
