CV Boots (an interesting topic)

Hi eveyone.
My right hand Cv boot on the outer has slipped off the drives shaft and compressed the bellows forcing grease out of the larger end of the Boot.
See photo.

I was curious to know if this is the correct boot for the outboard side because if you have a look at the LHS it has more bellows.
See photo.

Want to be armed with the correct info so I can take it back on Monday armed with some facts. It is not pinched and it has only lasted two weeks. Not happy!!!!!!
Thanks everone.
Cheers

Mark,
Just checked mine, it has the original boots and both sides are identical. Same as your LHS with the greater number of bellows. Hope this helps. Cheers Greg.

Really appreciate the help guys.
I just counted the inner boots on both sides as well. They have 3 bellows but look similar in size to the one in question on the RHS. Maybe they fitted an inner boot to the outer by mistake. Bloody TWITS.
Looks like the truck is off the road for another day!!!! One more days pay missed out on, cant fit all the tools in the Starlet.
Thanks once again
Cheers

Thanks Tunnel Rat.
Will be sure to take a bag of peanuts and a bunch of bananas for them. This will be the third time it is in for warranty now. I was the cars 1st birthday yesterday seems like a somber celebration. To find the f@#ked boot again last night.

David.
Probably knowing who they are and what they will say "It is within spec".
I will give them the benefit of the doubt and wont upset myself for the rest of the weekend. Will let you know how I go on Monday. As per the PM David its hasnt been a cheap fix.
The one promising factor is they do have a Hilux as one of there display utes in the yard. And can cross reference it to theirs.
Cheers

Mark,

Bag of Peanuts???? You need a tyre lever to belt the nuckle heads.

Care to name the repairer / dealer so that we all stay away from them?

Good luck for the third time mate.

Cheers

Oh Well heres the progress report. It is a non geniune boot. The inner and the outer cant be mixed up either. From what I am told. And of course its the "first time" they have seen it happen before. It goes in on Thursday to have a GENUINE on put back in it.
I have been pretty happy with there service up until this point. And they have always helped with other issues that I have had as well and given me some good advice.
Anyways this is what I have to drive on Thursday. And fit all of my tools in.

Had to man it up a little with my own sticker. 8-) 8-)

Nice Franagapanis.....very manly

No amount of Air Locker stickers can fix that.

Will tow the trailer nicely... 8-) 8-)

Gettin no work done and no truck, bummer.
Everyone makes mistakes, its hard to live with someone else's blues all the time.
Still it doesn't undo all the good work they have done for you,

Did a 2 day trek at the high country, when i came back my LHS boot was off. I have 6 bellows per side. maybe my new OME suspension lift had an effect due to the greater wheel travel.

Ruggedlux I guess by saying your LHS boot was off you meant that it had pulled back on the shaft like skogs is that right, not come right off :-) :-)

No, mine pulled off from the wheel bearing end. Seems the ring that holds it in pace failed. Did a quick fix using a cable tie. Is this under warranty?
