Edit: For the record, I was quoted 1200 bux at ARB last year to install my diff gears with me supplying the master install kits/gears and fluids.

Just trolling through Ebay I came across this:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOYOTA-PRADO ... 656&_uhb=1

IF I understand this thread correctly then this would be good for anyone wanting to regear in a manual D4D to suit 32s, and for dirt cheap as well (still need to source rears though)

I can't afford em right now but would hope somebody here might make use of em.

Yep, that is cheap for anyone with a manual with factory 3.5 diff gears.

Just an update, no luck with the tjm lockers, went there today and they don't do a front locker as yet for the hilux or prado. As for the gears they have never sold them before so they have got no idea what the guy at the show was on about. There going to look after me with a tlm rear and arb front locker.

For the blokes running 35s on there d4d Manual (sas boys included) has anyone looked into 4.3 or 4.5?? If there's such a thing for our trucks. After all 4.1 are better suited for 33

Ray,

D4D manuals came with factory 3.5 gears. Therefore a manual on 35's would suit 4.1's better.

D4D auto's, 4.5's are better.

Yea I'm running 33s with 4.1 now and recon it drives perfect. Hopefully I can keep it like that.

With a little bit of luck ill be running 35s in the new year. And wanted to re gear for them. I thought 35s on 4.1 would be like 32s on standard gearing??

I was running 32s on standard gearing before the 33s and 4.1, and don't want to be back where I started. If that makes sense [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES]

Theres nothing saying you cant fit 4.5's.....I dont know anyone thats fitted them to a manual.

Just wouldnt want it revving too high at 100kph, but then again you also have an extra gear so it "might" work......low range 1st would be awesome

yea the rev range at 110 is the only thing I'm worried about... 4.3 would be perfect I recon but I don't think there's such a thing:( might have to stick to my 4.1s :( cheers for the help max

Re: Locker & Gearing quotes

Postby twake34 on Wed, 28 Aug 2013 9:09 +0000

Hey guys.

Long story short - I'm looking at fitting 32"ers and have read that it will hit power/fuel and so I should 're-gear' as I'm running an auto diesel.
Problem - I have no idea what I do and don't need out of this stuff to order myself.
Solution - go to ARB or TJM and get it sorted hassle free.
Question - what's it likely to cost to get all it sorted by one of them to fix the bigger tyre issues?

Thanks!!

Firstly have a read of this thread front ot back a few time to get the understanding.

Some questions which will help you decide: -

- Auto or Manual
- Diesel or petrol
- Are 32's the biggest tyre you want to run
- Whats the application for re-gear, towing, 4x4 (low speed crawl)

Go a set of 4.1's

second hand out of a Prado120 with 1KZ (turbo diesel)

or new from Toyota.

You will need a Prado 120 front diff locker or carrier.

Rear will be same as hilux....bolt straight in.

get master install kits too for full rebuild, unless you buy diff centers as assemblies and swap them straight in.

Need some help. Just picked up my prado 120 front diff with 4.1 gears and a mid 90's compleat rear diff centre with 4.1 gears. Also bought arb front and rear lockers. Is there any chance I can get the lockers built in to these centres and than install them in my 08 hilux. That way i'm not pulling apart my standard good centres and the car wont be off the road as long and also if i ever wont to put it back to standard it would be a quick change over. What do you guys think??
