hi all,

my situation is different than yours.. i have got 2008 hilux which has got 2.5 liters d4d (120 hp) engine and 5 speed manual transmisson.. my standart diff ratio is 3.91..

now İ' m going to 33" s.. so i want 4.56 s with them.. my first quesition is, am i need the prado diff carrier (or arb 111)? because i have already run on 3.91s..

second question is, what about the bearing sets and rear pinion flange? are they necessary for installation?

this set is example of it..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-08-To ... 486wt_1002 this set is example of it..

I'd consult whoever is going to do the install for you about what part you need to go with the gears.

Because you already run the 3.9 ratio this is essentially the Prado carrier, you can keep this carrier or fit a prado air locker.

If you can find a 4.5:1 ratio to fit the front end (NOT the thick cut one as mentioned in this thread because it suits 3.7 and below carriers) then your set.

Spot On mate.......if you change to the airlocker for the 3.7 and down you can then fit the thick cut 4.5ratio gears from Nitro.

the rear is the same as previous generation hilux's....it hasnt changed so will be easier to get gears for...keep us all updated with progress. 8-)

You may find the spline in the rear diff is different on the Nitro rear pinion. Nitro can fix that with a multi fit flange that will mate to the different spline and your tail shaft.

If you are really keen on this mod, PM me as VMN can supply the Nitro gearsets you are looking at on eBay and will make sure you get everything you need including the master rebuild kits with all of the bearings etc that you will need. If you check out my "Rod's Rig" buildup, you will see a lot of diff fitting info.

You need to host them first through photobucket or the like, then use the IMG code copy the link and go from there.
