CV Angles

Postby Drew on Wed, 06 May 2009 7:03 +0000

Just thought it would be interesting to compare cv angles to what lifts people are running.

Mine is a 3-3.5in lift with a 1in diff drop/rotating spacer

Thanks mate, yeah I know what CV clicking noise sounds like it deffently wasn't that I usually can tell if my CVS are stuffed by putting it in low range first and let it roll whilst full lock this is where you'll hear most the ticking

As for your CV angle mate off ground looks sound angle as mine I don't understand why you can turn your wheel and I can't :/ wouldn't mind seeing your upper control arm position when wheels are off ground

My partner owns a 120 series Prado night just jack it up and see how they are considering there basically same set up

Yep - Axle angle appears to be the same however what looks different is where the axle is entering the inboard joint and hub assembly. Does it look to you like the CV boots appear more contorted in comparison?

It might just be the camera angle but the axle looks like it is entering the inboard joint low and the outboard high.
If this is the case it may cause the binding you describe.

Do you have Diff drop relocation bracket?
Aftermarket UCA's?

No worries.
The diff drop might be the difference
MR relocation drops it down and relocates forward to releave more cv angle.
Or it maybe the open strut length?
My strut length eye to eye is 570mm
