Soft tonneau

Postby Phillryan on Sun, 22 May 2016 11:55 +0000

Hi,
I'm looking to buy a new sr5 dual cab. Had a liner in my old 2005 sr5 and would't b without one. Can anyone tell me whether the over rail ute liner is compatible with soft tonneau.
Also whether the large utility box fits with the ute liner.

I don't reckon it would work. I went for the spray on rhino skin in mine and have a soft tonneau. My thinking was as I take the dogs to the beach regularly I would end up with heaps of salty sand between the liner and my tray. Check out Rhino skin, they can also colour code it.
I also have the large utility box and the two smaller boxes.
I will try and put some pics on later.

Thanks Easy
Definitely don't want to get moisture between the liner and the tray. Maybe best just going for the rubber floor mat initially and rhino skin later. How do you find the soft tonneau. Is it on a 2016 model? Look forward to the pics.

The liner is not compatible with the storage box. Have you considered the under rail liner?

I've got the soft tonneau, Toyota know there is an issue with it.

I had water pooling it the front half of the tonneau. when I took the car back for its 1000k service they did as I suggested and installed a second ridge bar, unfortunately due to the sports bar, the mounting location for the second ridge bar is fairly limited and its not possible to evenly position them.

im not real happy with how it looks but it works, when I get I chance ill see what I can do to come up with a better solution.

I've got the soft Tonneau with the tray liner. They're compatible.

I've seen some water pooling like above but I park on a slight slope so it's never cause me any issues.

Im planning on fitting the front storage box aswell as the two rear ones with the tubliner.

I know toyota say it wont work, but I have never taken NO for an answer before. its just an extra 15 to 20mm higher due to being raised by the liner.

Is the soft tonneau pushbutton fix on the sides or elastic? I havent looked at once close up yet.

They fix with a rail type system, fit flush on the tops of the tray. Not sure what the system is called..
