Too bad dazzle camouflage isn't a standard paint option :P

As a 2014 Hilux owner I resent any notion of a new model! :) Kidding of course, it'll be good to see if it's marketed more as a recreation vehicle than a work vehicle. The US Tacoma has used the 4Runner chassis for quite some time now, whereas the Hilux has a typical truck ladder frame. It'll be interesting to see which option they choose for a single global platform. The real interest to me is what's in store for the D4D, the current mill is what, 14+ years old? Oh well, bring it on... it's long overdue.

First thing I notice is looking at the guards on the 2wd (assuming they are the same as the 4wd) they look pretty small..... One of the best things about the ranger is being able to fit 33s on without a lift. Toyota need to note these little details from their biggest rival/threat....

What did he take the photo with? a pencil has a higher resolution than that!

Needs to be able to fit 33s with bigger wheel arches. And surely a new engine.

Looks like a facelift to my eyes, same rear window & a-b-c pillar shapes, if its not then its not too different on the hard points

Just drove past a fortuner in Albany Creek, and it has pretty much the same front lights. Maybe it is just a facelift for oct 2014? Surely they'd change a bit more cosmetically like what happened between 04 and 05.

Spoke to local fellas that work at Toyota dealership, they have been told the new 2016 hilux will be a twin turbo. Did not say anything about the size of the engine though.

With Nissan adopting Cummin's power for the new Navara maybe Toyota will have Cat or Detroit power under the hood... Mmm niiiice.

Anything with the dazzle paint scheme will look boxy and featureless - it's the point of the paint after all :p

Toyota has already announced that the next tacoma will have the same 5 litre V8 Cummins in the 2016 new model.

The Tundra will get a diesel. It's nearly a decade late though, Toyota would have increased their market share by going head to head against Ford/Chevy/Dodge with a diesel engine. Toyota will have to add a diesel to the Tundra because it's likely the Ford F-150 could receive a diesel and the Dodge 1500 will now have a V6 diesel option.
