cluster or combo meter failure rate

Postby 241steve on Thu, 23 Nov 2023 9:41 +0000

The check engine light on my dash didn't work nor did the light on the odometer and the taco was low is the complaint with my cluster. I finely found another cluster that works. Would any one bother trying to get mine repaired in case the one i got fails? I suspect mine was molested to put the check engine light out. As the cluster I got was from Tasmania 50k k's less can I tell the joke I've added $10k in value to my Lux I'll sell it now ? It appears the odometer info is in the cluster change the cluster with a low k's cluster would be something to watch-out for if buying a Lux?

The kms is also on your ecu - easy enough to read it you have a good scan tool.

I'm going through the same issue with my ranger due to similar problems. I've found the odo can be adjusted with the right tool but the kms is also recorded on various modules.

So yes, best to throw a decent scan tool on any potential purchase to check the kms, injectors etc.
I might be wrong.
