New stereo plastic surround??????

Hey guys,

First let me say thankyou to the guys that posted up info on removing key beeper removal, seat belt beeper removal and the hilux manual including the wiring diagram.

I have spent the day installing a new mp3 cd player and new speakers using the electrical diagram found on here from the hilux manual. I also removed the seat belt alarm and also wired in the drivers door switch with the passenger seats in order to remove the ignition key beeper. Everything worked a treat.

I also found one thing that wasn't included in the manual, the darker green wire on the harness pulg for the standard cd player is the illumination wire. 12v with ignition on etc.

One question I have. Obviously the factory toyota stereos are double din so to replace with a single din cd player you need a plastic insert but why do I still have clearance around the outside of the cd player/plastic insert? Is there more plastic inserts available to cover up this gap??

What do other peoples single din replacement cd/mp3 players look like??

RB members have found the trim you need at autobarn of supercheap, called corolla radio trim or something like that.

The DIN sized UHF fits in the space below your head unit nice

yeah mate i found mine at auto barn. They were about 15 bucks and the guys refered to them as Toyota "ears".
They came in a pack with another bit of plastic i didn't need but unfortunately they weren't seperate. I have a double din kenwood screen but after seing your photo, you are after the identical thing that i got from auto barn.

You can get the side bits from Toyota for around 25 bucks. I think the Corolla ones are the same.
