Turbo dump pipe

Hi all, I had a 3 inch system put on my hilux, with light truck muffler mandral bends and high flow cat but they didn't replace the dump pipe from the turbo. Is there any benefit getting a 3 inch dump pipe? or is the standard one good enough because the turbo outlet would be smaller than 60mm i would imagine.

Don't get too hung up on the dump pipe mate, i recently fitted a full 3" system to mine and expecting to see a really small and restrictive factory dump pipe.....but i couldn't believe the factory dump pipe was exactly the same dimensions as the new one i was fitting!!!!

Got the lux booked in to get 3'inch mandrel bend exhaust this coming friday, i too have been recommended to leave my current factory dump pipe on as well.
Should i get it replaced or just leave it as it is? As Brusa said, Factory dump pipe same dimensions.
I have the 2010 model lux, are the earlier model hiluxs dump pipes same length and dimensions??

I know the dump pipe on my Humex exhaust was alot bigger than the tiny factory unit (2007 lux).

Yes the flange to the back of the turbo was the same size but the pipe itself was tappered up to the 3" diameter of the rest of the exhaust.

Factory diameter is about 2 1/4" or thereabouts.

I'm with Max on this one change the dump pipe don't stay with the factory one.

Will get on to my exhaust installer tomorrow and organise for him to get the 3inch dump pipe prior to fitment.
Dont plan on running a chip in the near future, so wont bother with the weld bung for the egt gauge. Already have enough go in her with the sprint booster.

I didnt have that option and couldnt fit one as close to the back of the turbo as I wanted because it was damp near impossible clearance wise for a thread tapper handle to get in and tap a hole, so I ended up drilling it as high up from underneath the vehicle as I could to enable me to tap the drilled hole.

Not ideal but if the option had been there when I got the exhaust I would have done it.

Dont say just because you dont need it now you wont get it. Better to have it and not need it now, than to kick yourself later and wish you did have it.

x2 its so much easier to get it done when first fitting the zorst. Or you will have to do what i did and take it all off again to get the bung welded on PITA!!!

Yep, factory dump pipe has to go. The bulk of the power gains come from the dump pipe upgrade, the rest or it just makes the noise

I work with big (up to 64L) turbo diesel engines and the exhaust always gets bigger than the turbo outlet tapering out from the flange, these things plod along at about 25psi.
The less back pressure you have on the exhaust side of the turbo the more efficient the turbo will be.

My exh is stock, what should i expect to pay for a good system, and do they include a particulate filter?

Anyone had trouble getting off the 3 12mm nuts connecting the dump to the turbo? I gave it 24 hours to loosen up with a few big doses of super penetrant but still no joy . Tried my local mechanic but even he was unable to make them budge and told me that the only option is to send it to a muffler shop to get the nut and stud oxy cut out! Pretty p#$$ed that my 3 year old truck with no beach work has 3 nuts already seized on.

Yep mine were tighter than a nuns __________ but someone on here suggested to heat them up a little and use a solid hex socket end - rather than a multi faced socket end which is what i was trying with (kinchrome) so went to the old mans shed and got a proper hex shape socket the right size and presto she was off. Also use a pipe extension off of the ratchet for increased leaverage.... Worked for me first go after 2 days of trying to get it off

zorst shop should be able to do it with ease, my 07 come off no troubles at all, just hope they dont snap a stud mate got his 2002 done no troubles through the shop to

Man, some are more difficult than others, sounds like yours fit in the first category. Stick with it, give them a spray morning and night for a couple of days (might be up to a week) and they should come off. Don't get slack with them and round the nuts off, then you're in troble. Use a single hex socket. Take the heat guards off when undoing the nuts as you can get better access and purchase on them. Good luck.

Mate, get heat on it! Simple as that...get your self a plumbers gas torch thingy me jig, glow them red hot...apply vice grips and voila! Job done....lmao
