HID headlight upgrade

Postby khany454 on Sun, 20 Nov 2011 9:10 +0000

howdy all, just did the hid conversion to my headlights today and all is good so far.
i havent had anyone flash me yet (10mins of night driving) but i reckon they may be a little high, ile see how i go but im just wondering if any of you guys have done the conversion and how do you lower the lights and how far did you drop them?

as far as i can tell there is a small bolt (8-10mm i think?) with some wild lookin big washer with teeth lookin bits around it that i am guessing is the adjuster? if thats it how many turns do you give it and which way do you turn it? lefty loosey or righty tighty?
or do you loosen the bolt then adjust the "washer" a couple of clicks?

sorry ive never had to adjust headlights before so ive got no idea!
thanks for your help :)
i really dont wanna be one of those wankers going around blinding people!

Yes hid are illegal unless they are fitted from factory, as in they are standard an an option through dealer. And the 'halo' ring is also the same...

HID headlight upgrade

Mate just park face to a roller door or wall a couple of meters away and you'll have both beams clearly showing against a flat surface... That screw you talk about with big angry teeth n stuff Is your adjuster bolt I can't remember Wich ways what but you'll see your headlights moving on the wall so adjust accordingly... Hope that helps

Kyle if you keep your original headlights and just change to hid, get them off new tech pro, forum sponser and great quality gear (i am running them in my angels).

Here is a link, i believe you will need the first one, H4 hi/low beam, $205

kyle i got a set from autobarn, they had them on special a couple weeks ago, otherwise i wouldve gone for new techs, just happened to be in there at the time, spur of the moment thing.
will be upgrading my xgt's with new techs though (if they do the conversion for them)

IT is possible to buy a H4-2 globe so that your low beam is still a halogen bulb and the high beam is a HID.
I can get them but have not tried them out as they dont interest me that much. I already run a 22" light bar and hid spot lights.

i have a set of HID headlights from ebay. $40 plus $10 for shipping. High low, 3 years old and going strong.... i have driven from gold coast to Sydney and god coast to townsville at night as well as allot of night driving in Sydney cbd and never been pulled over for them or asked about them once pulled over... its one of those u shouldn't have them but you will never get done for it kind of thing...

cops seem more interested in if you have p plates on and if your over the limit than what kind of head light bulb you use.
Yes this is my ute...... No i won't help you move house.

I reckon if you use HID stick with 4300k or 5000k.

6000k lights is just too white and attract the cops attention.

My wife got pulled over as the Innova MPV was on 6000k HID's and the cops said it's not a standard item on the vehicle. My wife played dumb and insisted that's the genuine headlight and has not been modified at all.
He let her go after that.
