Hi all,
we have an auto diesel - I have noted that Scan Gauge are working on codes for AT temp..... anyone found the code to program - or is this something the company must configure into the hardware to make the unit compliant?

Will this unit fit into the ashtray slot?........ blasted useless waste of dash in our truck....
I'll post an answer to that shortly - it's 122mm wide, 38 mm high and 25 mm deep - me thinks it won't fit.... but I'll go out and measure up....

O/T - but have heard "reports" that Toyota Australia are receiving complaints about overheating issues.... anyone know what's going on?.... apparently it's made the papers in some motoring columns..... sorry if there's a thread on this - still working my way down the "new posts".....

All working very well....
Who can tell me how the LOD aspect can be utilised using an auto trans...
If mine is like other scangauges, it fluctuates a lot - I have even seen the % go over 100 - the readout is in two digits, which must be added to the 100 already achieved......

Now on a matter of more interest to some with autos - I have been given the code for ATF temp, but on a LC....
If my understanding is correct - I believe our A/T may be similar.... if anyone would care to enter the following code and test this, we may have access to ATF...... I haven't ventured into adding codes to my scangauge yet... still working through other additions to the little truck....

code is...

TXD: 686AF101B4 RXF: 044105B40000 RXD: 2808 MTH: 000100010000

Thanks Charlie - yes, I was leaning towards it being too good to be true.
I note other forum members have stated our auto trans runs a separate ECU....
Information came from one of my caravan forum members with a 2003 LC....

I will still try it on mine..... when I learn to enter additional "gauges" via codes.

Hi All I just wanted to throw some ScanGauge II info into the thread. I have 2009 Vigo and ScanGauge II does not work on it. I sent two back to ScanGauge and ordered the SmartGuage for Hilux and it does work. Evidently Toyota only ships OBD II compliant HIlux's to Australia and the previous incarnation M-OBD to other countries. I have written to ScanGuage requesting that they try to add M-OBD protocol to their ScanGuage II as there is a large Asian market that they could sell to. As far as my research goes, this is still true for the 2011 models, can anyone confirm this for non-Australian import models. Second can anyone confirm that the KML fuel efficiency measure works for their Hilux's with the SmartGuage?

Mike,

The KML feature only works for the 1KD-FTV 3 litre diesel engine.

On the 2KD-FTV 2.5 litre the KML does not function.

As far as I am aware, post 2007/2008 models will work with the Scangauge irrespective of markets.

My 2009 is an example I have to work with and it doe's not work with ScanGauge II. It does work with Smartgauge though the Smartgauge is not nearly as functional as the Scangauge II. Also the Smartgauge only has metric readout which means us yanks have to get a calculator and convert everything except RPM. Also reading through several Thailand forums there are several posters that had to send their ScanGauge's back as they didn't work with their Lux's. I don't know if all the posters had older Lux's but some did report so with their newer one.

Thanks for the info Mike.

You are welcome, I think you guessed that the 2kd-ftv engine may have a different OBD protocol standard everywhere. Most Hiluxs in Thailand seem to be the 2kd-ftv. The other possibility is that Australia like the US has a requirement that any auto imported through dealer networks must meet the OBD-II standard and Toyota only complies with the OBD-II standard if it must to meet import requirements. I am still curious if anyone has a direct import 1kd-ftv engine, that does not meet OBD-II manufactured after 2007?

Gday Everyone
I have an 08/2006 plated SR 3.0 D4D Hilux and the scangauge works fine. Apparently August 2006 is the cutoff, anything before then you need the smart gauge.
By the way, its an awesome piece of kit, highly recommended.
