Mate I havnt myself but I ve managed to dramatically reshape my ARB one that would more than likely be better made Monster rides has some out which are pretty tough, Ill see if I can find some info on it.
IMHO Id put my money into something with a stronger reputation
viewtopic.php?f=46&t=10281&hilit=Buds+bash+plate
Thats the link to the plate, hes just made a real strong plate for the transfer case
viewtopic.php?f=46&t=11541&hilit=Buds+transfer+plate

Not the cheapest around my ARB covers all the way incl transfer case and was around 500 in total but like I said Ive bent that

Here a pick off there website (looks just like the new ARB ones  )

Image

Website states 2.5 - 3mm thick. Not thick enough in my opinion.
Buds are 4mm thick and i have a golf ball size dent in mine!
Give it a go and report back. But i would rather throw my money at the smaller company in Buds/MR :ugeek:

Have the TJM FUG & TUG, 3mm thick & you need a 10 pound sledgey to knock out the dents. Have saved damage quite a few times. The ones pictured do not look to be as sturdy, a bit harsh maybe but why do you need the strenghening folds? If Buds are 4mm they would take a battering & come back for more, GVM upgrade required?

What actually hangs low on the Hiluxs that the bash plates protect. It is a great idea on paper. But are you paying a heap of money to protect things that are actually clear of rocks anyway.

It's not so much 'hanging low' but if you drop off a step or collect a boulder mid track with no alternative they take the impact & not your sump/gearbox/steering/cross member. Take a look at a standard vehicle that has been off-road & you will see that the factory plates are not designed to take a decent knock, just to keep the odd stick or kicked-up stone at bay. My standard ones were destroyed within a few weeks, one trip in the bush & one on the beach. This was not due to bad practices, just a fact of 4wding. The bottom of the transfer hangs down a bit, there is someone that has made a plate to protect it though. Mmaaxx?

I've got a custom 5mm thick bash plate which goes from under the Sahara bar and under both engine crossmembers then ramps up a little at the back.
Tough as hell I've bashed the absolute shit out of it on stuff and it's barely got a scratch let alone any dents!

I have the factory plate and it is beaten to death. I have been told that it is sometime good to have something that will deform and absorb impact rather than having the full force of a drop being sent through a strong bash plate and onto you chasis or mount points. This is just something I have been told. I am not saying I am right, I am more looking for more information on the topic.

Yes that would make sence, those factory ones would lucky to be 1 ml thick though not really offering any protection at all

Do you have to dent a bash plate? I prepared my truck for tough offroad and yes, there are plenty scratches and small dings on the 3mm plate but I pride myself to not drive like it's stolen, rather rebuild the road than bash the truck etc. 3mm is already heavy but about the minimum you should go for. Adding weight just lower your available payload. Crawling is my game and I love it!

I saw someone with a 3mm ARB Bash plate put a massive dint on its first trail, first outing.... obviously done by a rock but there are def better ones out there that you could bash all day and it will handle it.
