Has Brooksy had a look and a think about how he is gonna mod the bar to match the bodylift yet?

mmaaxx wrote:thanks for that Twisty.....what suspension did you decide on? and what wheels/spec?

EDIT:

Twisty, just remembered somthing......have you had a look at brake lines yet? will they need to be lengthened up front since they are fixed to the body as well.....?

Suspension will be a 3" bilstein kit....not sure what springs, will just be what ever Ryano at Fourbys usally uses and recomends.

Wheels are the same as the first post, Chrome 17x9 Moto Metal MO955's which have a -12mm offset. Still haven't choosen what bradnd and type of tyre yet.

Brake lines I had a quick look at after doing the bodylift, all seemed fine. Haven't checked if this will change when the suspension goes in but.

Actual chassis mount of the bar is up at my place, so brooksys hasn't seen any of that yet. I'm thinking we'll just cut the bumper mounts off the main chassis mount, move them up 2" and re-weld them back on, possibly with some extra bracing. Thats the way I've always done it on previous trucks.

Picked up the SR5 tub on the weekend and stripped everything off ready to send to the panel beaters for paint.

Best place to start would be talking to a local engineer to see if you can get it approved in NSW. I posted up my application to QLD transport and the approval letter on page 4 of this thread. Could maybe print that out to show the engineer if he has any doubts.

Other good threads to read regarding bodylifts.

Hey Twisty,

As you know Ryano and I fitted my suspension on Saturday. I think he gave me the 3" kit as you can definately feel the difference when driving.
Anyhow, Butt Cracka was going to call into to see Jo (who is at her parents place and she has the lux) he was going to take some photos for you.
I should start me own thread some day but then it is just another white lux with a little bit of fruit.

Cheers

So Twisty, Roughly how much will it cost to paint the tub Grey? Mighty fine colour that, I think all Hiluxes should be painted grey.

Your rig is going to look pretty sweet when it is all together. I'll have to call you the SR5 imposter!

I cant find the paper I had with all the quotes on it, but i think it'll be around $1200-$1500 of painting (cash & mates rates). Thats for tub, flares, bullbar, mirrors, door handles. Painting just the tub was $750 from memory.

Still pretty confident that I will have most of the main mods done, and still be cheaper then a SR5.

SR5 imposter is fine with me

Frodo, Read the Body lift bible that Mmaaxx has put together

And all your questions will be answered. I might add we are all jealous of your Arctic trucks :( :(

Thanks :) very good explain..

Arctic Trucks have already mounted 2cm bodylift.. But the car is modified to go on 37" wheels, and when i go up to 38" i need more space. so i think 3" bodylift will be working wery good.

the only change as is done with the diff is to gear it down, and its no problem for the CV ledds. The car is only lifted 4cm om the springs, and 2cm on bodylift. Otherwise, only the wheel house cut an entire part. To 37 "cut them up rebuilding the floor and create more space for the tires.

Maybee i make a "build up" on my own car here, but i have problems with the language here..

We look forward to your build up. Really, your English is fine, I'll make sure Max stops using Aussie slang and sprinkling in the odd spelling error. eg. using bug instead of big

Anyway, some of us are not that good at reading either, pictures will be fine !!
