Well a deal has come up recently which has forced me to sell a vehicle I said I would never sell, my FJ40.

Image

It's replacement is also a 40 so its not too bad. Specs of the new one.

84 BJ40
13BT turbo desiel (60,000kms on it, brand new turbo) - will be selling this and fitting the V8 from the other 40.
Factory 5spd - selling this
Airlockers front and rear
4 link rear with 12" travel fox 2.5" remote res coilovers
Radius arm front with 14" fox 2.5" remote res coilovers
300mm chassis/body/wheelbase extension
Mod plated in QLD for all the above.

I went down to steelarts on the weekend and we pulled it out of storage, and loaded up the trailer full of the spares and tonnes of other stuff I have now aquired. (winches, panels, tyres, rims, 3 pairs of recaros and more)

Plan is now to loose all the body from the b-pillar back and make our own with a 25mm rhs frame etc. Similar to this one from pirate http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthre ... 518&page=4

Pics of the BJ. (front bar will be for sale, rims/tyres for sale)

So your selling one 40 for another? why? the LWB setup? other?

Im assuming this new 40 will be regoed too?

I remember seeing Steelarts thread on it when he started it a while back. Always wondered what ever happened to that 40.

Plans?

Yep, selling old one for this one. But new one will be finished off in the same style (cage, tube gaurds, barwork).

Why, cause it has Links, Coilovers, Streched Chassis/Wheelbase, 35's, all mod plated for QLD. Will be rego'd.

Should end up something like this, but not as cool/big.

Back in the 80s when orange mod plates were around certian vehicles could get approved for them if they worked for the forestry or something. This happened to be one of those vehicles

Few sneak pics of the new prototype front bar that I have helped design. Still another day of finishing touches and tweaks to go, but am loving the look of it.

Hi Twisty and Matty,
Just wondering if there has been any progress or updates on this bull bar yet?
Is it still on the cards or has it been scraped after you sold your hilux?
Sorry if I've mist anything, just flicking throught looking for any updates on it.

I'll let Matty answer that one. Its still in the works, but not sure on timing etc.

Steelart ran out of time to do the rear Bodywork before leaving for the US, so it was delivered up to my place yesterday. I'll get the V8 and Auto mounted and do some other bits and pieces, then it'll go to Brooksys to get everything else done. So won't be any exciting progress for a few months yet.

Lift on the FJC is around 3-4 inches and 35" tyres.

Your correct Tom. Top mounts of coilovers are actually wider then the bottom. Needed to be that was due to the skinny 40 series diffs used and the coilovers being so large (2.5"). It'll getting redone on 60 series diffs, so will have them setup the normal way then.
