Jungle truck Higher Clearance Bash Plate

Postby MarkYounger on Thu, 05 Jan 2012 9:46 +0000

Been working on a bash plate to replace the factory one  . I have the front plate finished and ready for paint hopefully I can get that done tomorrow.
I took some notes from Max and came up with a good design.

Jungle Truck Higher Clearance Bash Plate

Postby MarkYounger on Thu, 05 Jan 2012 10:05 +0000

Image
Started with a piece of 1/4" scrap I bought for about $15.
Image
I cut out the pattern then scored the metal and made the bends.
Image
I cut the brackets to gain an extra 1"
Image
Reattached the brackets held the plate up and tack welded it.
Image
Cut access holes for the bolts. Wish I had a 1" bit and a drill press.
And one of those fancy plasma cutters would be nice too.

Mark's jungle truck

Postby MarkYounger on Thu, 05 Jan 2012 5:53 +0000

Yeah man it's fun and i enjoy creating and working on my truck. On the other hand it has not been easy getting everything correct I can see why someone would pay hundreds for one.

Ok got it painted and bolted up. Only had red primer black paint will mean a trip down the mountain although I kind of like the look of it red. Measured and figured I gained 13mm up top and 20mm further back. Putting my lowest point closer to my wheels. Any way with 1/4" plate steel won't really matter.

Well I finally got a fire lit under the guy doing my bull-bar (mataburro as we call it here.) this is the work done so far. I will have to trim the plastic bumper a bit to not stuff the approach angle. ImageImage
