Every 15" steel rim we have tried, the weld holding the centre to the band touch and in anything more positive than a zero, the well of the rim touches aswell. This is in the steel anyway. If you go an alloy you won't have this problem. There are a number of alloys in 15" on the market already that will clear. I'll put together a bit of a list and post up later.
Being totally honest, I personally wouldn't run anything smaller than a 16" if you are looking to go bigger in tyre size anyway.

the factory rims in 15x7 clear the caliper as we all know, and CSA make a 15x7 that clears the caliper but no one makes a 15x8 with say atleast a +10 to a -12 offset that clears the calipers?

any more offset than that and you defeat the purpose of trying to make the tyre fit......it would hang too far out.

Just wondering.

Pfft who wants 15" when 17" Bling can look as hot as Twistys does 8-)

bwahahaha....was thinking about bling mate......just trying to find info for a future second set of offroad rim/tyre combo.....thought ryano would be the person to ask.

Ryano, if you could get a list of 15 inch wheels, even alloy that fit that would be great.......Id prefer something more positive than a zero if there are any that fit....

cheers mate.

Should be one of the nicest Hilux's around when it's done... good luck with the rest of the build!

If your interested I might have a strong lead on some arctic style flares, just not as big! Probably about 50-60mm wider than SR5 flares
Will cover your tyre combo and look pretty sexy... Only drawback is they are fibreglass. Had no luck in sourcing any in plastic for over 3 years.... the quest continues!

Thanks Matt, yours was definetley one of my inspirations for the build! I originally wanted to go 18s, but adds just that bit extra too much $$$. Am more than happy with the 17s/33 combo but, as you said, gives enough sidewall to still let them down a fair bit if needed.

Arctic flares, sounds perfect! Fibreglass doesn't worry me too much. Let me know whats the go with them.

Are they similar to these ones?

Hey Twisty,

Yeah similar, but maybe a touch bigger. But at this stage I still have nothing so these would be great also.

Ideally I wanted something like the wider flares off the Rebel or Brute Rodeos that were put out on the last model, factory looking, but nice and beefy.
They will actually make your modified vehicle look more stock, or factory if you have big wheels and tyres as it will all be in better proportion. The boys in blue will give you less scrutiny and less hassle, especially if all the rubber is covered.

I'd be interested to know where they are from.... never come across that picture of truck before in my internet and google searching before. Very nice... they look neat, well fitted etc.

Anyone else out there found anything regarding these flares?

This is who I have contacted:
I had no luck with Arctic Trucks... nice guys just too hard to get it too happen.
SVS - UK guys, might get the ones I mentioned earlier of them. But the pounds to AUD conversion is a bit of a killer.
Talon - willing to make a mounling etc, but really expensive. Big set up costs.
Everyone I can find in Thailand... Ken from Ultimate is on the ejob as well.

Thats about it!!

Look at the bottom right hand corner of the pic it has the details of all mods with the flares being the very bottom. The name was toooooooooo looooonng for me to write. Looks like German :?
I reckon they will be perfect for yours Dave. You need to be careful not to go too wide a flare as they can start to look crap unless you have a big enough tyre.

Yeah, agree Brooksy.....I'll get the SR5 ones fitted up and see how it all sits...by just holding the flares up there it looks like it'll mainly be the sidewall buldge sticking out and the tiniest bit of tread. I'll be happy with it like that, if thats the case.

Tube flares from C44F colour matched and tied into the C44F sliders which would tie in nicely with a C44F rear step or even better rear tub

Ok a bit over the top but you know it would look 8-)

Nice work boys... thanks for the good lead on these flares.

Not cheap though...

And here is the conversion on just the purchase price. Not including freight or insurance or taxes.

I'll get in contact with them and see what I can find out.

Yeah they are pretty much out of the equation at that price.

I'll contact them for a price on a few sets as a group buy?

Whats the max $$ you guys would pay for these flares?

If they are plastic they would be awesome... fiberglass is o.k, but I'd prefer plastic.

Being german they might mount up like the SR5 flares?

Lets see how they respond to my email... fingers crossed!

Cheers

Kinda depends on group buy as I only require a set of fronts... But I'd pay probably 400 for fronts or 800 as a kit...

Yeah, I agree with Quinny, prob $800 max....doubt we'll get them that low.

Other problem is how they wrap around over the bumper as one piece, so wont suit a bullbar.

The same guys also do the Triton flares- (I checked) so you could also guage interest over on Newtriton.

I think the price that the guys here have indicated ($800) would be fair.

Certianly offer a few more wheel choices- maybe even 0 offset rims, with the flares being able to cover the tyres

Top looking rig mate... really got me thinking about a body lift now!!!
I have the 33x12.5 mtz on a 16x 8 with the -12 offset and they wer outside the stock sr5 flares like maxx said i had to put some rubber ones on to cover them and stop the stones. The body mount is easy to trim, i just copied the pics maxx put in my build was too easy.
Im not stuck..... Im thinking

Hey Twisty
The stance of ya truck looks tuff as 8-)
what diff drop did you use? is it a simular setup to the snake setup with the 1'' spacers to rotate the diff forward?

Also Ryano with th 15 inch rims with say a 0 offset and a 6mm wheel spacer would that be enough clearance to get them to fit?
Cheers Troy
