The manual with 33's is pretty good, if you had an auto like me, than yes a regear is needed. Too fast for 1st gear low.

No probs, was just hopeing to see if anyone else had same to see how their rig was going as im toying with the idea of trying -10 offset or -20 offset next time im due for new rubber.

Anyone else on here (2-3 inch lift) if your using 33's with a -10 - -20 offset im all ears to hear about how it works in relation to the body mount and guards :?: :?: :?:

Not 100% sure yet, but I've got plans to go -12 on 17x9 with 305's in a 33 with a 2" suspension lift and 2" body lift. I would prefer a 0 offset but I've fallen in love with a certain set of rims

You'll be fine with that Mitch, the bodylift will help heaps with the clearance in the area that would touch normally.

Ron, there no problem running 33's with a 2" lift, you just have to remember that a 33" tyre will in most cases touch the guard on full compression unless the suspension is stiff.

Modding or fitting aftermarket bumpstoips can help a little as can wheel alignment and a little bit of clearancing at the rear.

+15 or +10 with a 285 width 33" tyre is a good setup.

Yeah but I want a wider stands that's why I opted for 0 offset, with these new flares fitted I now have extra room (20-30mm) so I'm thinking about a -15 or -20 offset. I'm also thinking the further out (or offset) the further away from the body mount it is.

Yeah, but the more -ve offset you have the larger the distance is out to the tyre, hence the larger the radius is that the tyre turns (swings) through when you turn the steering wheel, so the further the tyre will come back towards the body mount when on about half lock. Bottom line is the more -ve your offset the more you will foul your body mount when the steering is turned and hence the more you will need to chop chop. Nothing that can't be over come, just depends on how much you want it.

With a -20 and a chopped mount you will miss the mount, but you will run into issues with the actual body panneling/fiewall area on the outside of the mount. You will need to cut your flare/1/4 panel lower to clear these tyres on full steering alot like what matty has done to the Monster Rides front quarter panel and RaceCam has but racecam has modified his flares to push them back further to suit the fender trim.

Nothing is impossible.

Currently running 31/10.5 r15 on a -13 offset on a 2 inch lift with plans to go 33/10.5 r15 in the coming months, Can any one tell me what kind of trouble i can expect trimming/clearance wise? Would like to keep the -13 offset's as it gives off a nice stance, Side walls sticks out past the guards, but i can live with that hence why only going with a 10.5 wide tyre and not a 12.5 wide tyre.
Also have sahara bar if that matters.
cheers

From what ive been reading dan, if you start going too negetive, you start running into trouble with the actual wheel arch panel/flares, hence why you use a +15 to keep it inside the guard to a degree but also spaced enough out from the body mount.

I am going to be in need of some new rubber soon. I have 16x8 +20 offset Sunny copies with 265x75x16 Cooper ST/T's on at the moment. Id like to shift these over to 285x75x16 Mickey T ATZ's. This is all on stock suspension at the moment. I have, in my possession a 40mm EFS lift with some Bilstein shockies. What i want to know is, without a body lift, am i still going to run into trouble fitting these tyres even after i trim the control mount and rear guard? From what i have read (which is alot), the body lift will help with the compression of the wheels and prevent it from hitting the arch and therefore i will need too;

1) Trim body mount
2) Trim rear wheel arch
3) Install body lift

I thought i read somewhere amoungst all this conversation that someone has got +20 offset 16's to work with 285/75's.....unless im mistaken!

Thanks

Eric

G'day Eirico,
I ordered new rims yesterday in 17x9 with a +18 offset with a set of 265/70 17's. I spoke with the guy at OzzyTyres about the 285 tyre as I was thinking this option too, but mentioned that I thought they might be too wide for the offset and have trouble hitting the standard UCA. He said that it would and the P18 rim was made for the hilux and the 265/70's.

So with your P20 offset in a 16x8 rim you would be close to fitting... By the offset calculator you have 11mm more inner clearance then I do and the 285 is 10mm wider from the centre to the edge of the tyre. I would say that you will hit your UCA, but a set of aftermarket UCA's would solve your problem. Flare trim will be necessary but not too much with your body lift.

Hope this helps.

Danmccc runs a p20 with 285's, he only rubs a little on the chassis rail.

Have a look at his build thread.

What other mods have you got mate?

So far I'm thinking 285x70x17 with a +10 offset matched to my stock suspension with 2" coil spacers should go close to working without too much modification to things like UCA's and body mounts being required.

Thats exactly the tyre and rim size im running cause ive got prado brakes.
UCA you wont have a problem with. Not at +10 offset anyway. Im running rekon in the front adjusted to just over 3 inches so if you have 4 you shouldnt have a problem. Although im defiantly NOT an advocate of coil spacers

I did a small chop of my guards to stop the tyres from hitting them but I havent touched the body mount.

I havent been offroad since installing the rekon front suspension so i dont know with this new setup i will rub the mount or anything else for that matter with the setup i have now.

Ive got a few pics of the chop i did to the guards on my phone ill throw up on my build thread in a minute to show you how much i chopped if you want??

That'd be great! 4" over stock sounds like new suspension and diff drop brackets.. $$$$
I thought strut spacers were a no-no but coil spacers were ok?

Next mission is to find a set of 17x8's in a +10

Thanks for your help! :)

Sorry mate my bad I read the wording wrong. Yes coil spacers are fine and yes strut spacers are the no no.

I looked for ages and only found one distributor of plain black steel rims in that set up. Cant remember off the top of my head who they are but its in my build thread.

Ps those pics are up now
