thoughts on TJM XGS suspension???

i have a 98 hilux 3ltr sr5 and it has TJM Xgs suspension , im just wondering how they perform and if anyone has had any trouble with them? Thanks Matt

i also have heavy duty rear leaves and i have to get something softer because its skips over bumps and throws me off the road alot, know of anylinks where i can check some out?

Matt, all the suppliers in the above link offer all types of spring rate's from comfort to heavy depending on what loads you’re carrying around, so give them a call and go from there.

Generally most guy run comfort or mediums as they only carry up to 300kg, but if you are tradie and have a constant load e.g. tool boxes, tools, materials than heavy is the go.

Anyway call the suppliers and have a chat to them about your requirements.

TJM is a reputable supplier and there gear is pretty is good. You shouldn't have any problems with it and if you do, I'm sure they will help you fix it pretty quick. Where are you from Rattaa13? You may just need a spring service and maybe a leaf taken out. Like Helmut said, there's endless combinations with leaf springs so you really do just need to adapt them to suit your application. It's normally a fair bit cheaper to work on the ones fitted than buying another set. Just make sure you check the condition of all the bushes and U/Bolts.

A couple of other points to check are:
-Bumpstop clearance with the front torsion bars (If the Torsion bars are wound up too much, you maybe riding on the bump stops)
-Tyre pressures
-The rear shackle angles and tightness. If the shackles are over tightened with the vehicle raised in the air, they will usually bind and not have enough flexibility to work properly.

All of these points can create a rough ride and make the vehicle skip over bumps.

Thanks mate that helps alot, im from melbourne but i escape as much as possible to the country for some camping, its my everday driver also , so i cant trick it up to much unfortunatly. i think i might need a leaf taken out but ill check it out as you said just to make sure.
